• SMART GLOBAL SEARCH: feature allows you to find any file / directory on your computer in just a few seconds. It also implements a typo correction system, allowing you to find files even when the search query includes typos, wrong case, wrong word order, missing words, missing symbols, and missing file extension.

• TABS: feature allows you to quickly switch between multiple directories with a click or a shortcut.

• WORKSPACES: feature allows you to create separate workspaces with their own tabs and pre-defined actions, allowing you to quickly switch between them. Actions can perform different operations, e.g. open a website, run a script, open a file in a specific program, etc.

• ADVANCED WIRELESS FILE SHARING: share a directory or stream any file to your local devices wirelessly without installing any apps. It works on any device with a modern web browser (smart TVs, mobile devices, laptops, virtual machines, etc).

• ADDRESS BAR: lets you quickly navigate directories with your keyboard. It autocompletes file names and automatically opens directories as you type.

• ITEM FILTER: allows you to filter out items from the list to quickly find the one you need. It supports advanced glob patterns and property prefixes.

• ADVANCED FILE DOWNLOADER: stream / download any file from the internet just by dragging it (or its URL link) onto the app. It supports all file types, including videos from video services like Youtube and video streams (with or without auth tokens / URL timestamps).

• SMART DRAG & DROP: allows you to easily download files from the internet, and provides a comfortable way of copying / moving local files.

• SHORTCUTS: most actions within the app can be performed with shortcuts. You can also create global (system wide) shortcuts for some actions like opening / hiding the app or opening the app and instantly creating a new note.

• CUSTOMIZABLE HOME PAGE BANNER: The home page of the app has a unique, recognizable feature - a customizable media background (banner). You can set a custom image / video or choose one of the built-in artworks (kindly provided to me by different artists) and personalize the app to your liking.

• NOTES: Advanced note editor in this app allows you to create featureful notes and store them in one convenient, quickly accessible place.

• DASHBOARD: Dashboard page provides quick access to pinned / protected / tagged items, and the timeline.

Info

This app is primarily developed for Windows. The Linux builds get a lot less development time. They are less stable and have more issues. With more supporters, I will be able to spend more time on Linux builds.

Windows | Installation notes

It's recommended to install the app via the Microsoft store. If you decide to install the Installable file (.exe) instead, you might see a security warning during installation. If you see the warning prompt, click "More Info" and then "Run Anyway".

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS | Installation notes

Running AppImage applications in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

⚠ Notes:

• If you're running the app on the integrated GPU, the RAM usage will increase during video playback. Videos playing in the background (e.g. on the home page) are the main reason for high memory usage. You can reduce memory usage by choosing a static image for the "Windows transparency effect" and the home banner.
• The app is still in early development (prototyping) stage. It is safe to use, it should not delete or damage any files by itself, but it's recommended to backup (copy) your important data to an external backup drive or to your cloud storage, just for good practice.
• Expect to see some errors and performance issues in the first versions of the app. I will be fixing the problems gradually as they get reported by the users.
• The app has not been optimized yet, RAM usage can spike and go over 1 GB during some operations. So, for now, avoid using the app on low-tier computers (i.e. computers with 4 GB of RAM or less).

[Feature request] Folder specific sorting and view

Sorting and List/Grid layout should be Folder Specific instead of global

Feature request:

Right now most files without thumbnails have the same icon,

I would be better if they had different icons according to their extensions

Contents of drives not showing at Startup

When I open Drives from Home Page(not from the sidebar) after starting(only starting time), the contents of drives are not showing. But contents will display when I open it from the sidebar. After opening once from sidebar, can open and view the contents of drive from HomePage.

[Feature request] Multi-colour folder support

Feature request:

• Add support to change the colour of a folder's icon in the context menu

[Problem report] Antivirus False Positive

System info:

• App version: 1.0.0
• Operating System: Windows 10 21H1 x64

Problem:

My antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security) detected the app as a virus when I tried to run it. Both the installer and the installed executable pass any sort of scan, and nothing shows up on virus total, but as soon as I run it, my antivirus terminates the process. Kaspersky described it as Trojan.Win32.Generic, and said that it exhibits behaviors consistent with malware. Further, my antivirus software classed it as a high threat level and deleted it immediately. I believe this detection to be a false positive, however I am hesitant to reinstall the program while this issue persists.

Hopefully this issue can be resolved soon, as I am looking forward to checking it out.

If Sigma is opened through its .exe Sigma can be started several times and you can have, for example, 100 Sigma open in the background.

Problem:

As the title states, when trying to change the background on the home page to something custom, It is not possible to paste nor drag and drop a link.

Drag and drop a photo? how? open another file manager? that defeats the purpose of sigma!
Open another instance? This would be viable if the start up time was less but is just bother some.

Fix?

Make it so that clicking the highlighted region will open up a "explorer window" like this one

[Feature request] Add toggle to disable animations or Respect Windows "disable animations" toggle

Feature request:

I think that the multitude of animations might be detrimental for fast paced directory browsing. It would be helpful if the app follows the Windows system animations toggle, or having a disable/quicker animations toggle in the UI section in Settings.

Could be biased since I usually turns off animations.

Quicklook is a plug in for the file explorer that allows for fast and easy previews of file of all types

• Add support for tags i.e., organising files by tags
• Each tag should have different colour and should display on the sidebar
• Once clicked on a tag, all files associated with that tag open
• Files should be searchable by tags

As a WinGet package maintainer i wanted to add Sigma as a package.
The validation process requires to test the package in a VM/Sandbox, the program installed fine, but it cannot find the drives and this error pops up.

[Feature Request]Thumbnail & More Large Size Icons for Folders

It's love to have Thumbnails for App icons. Also love to have more folder icon sizes like in Windows Explorer( Tiles, Content, Large, Small, Extra Large...). Hope you will Introduce those features in future updates.

Easy Open with "Program" Menu

Open with a specific Program Menu is not that User Friendly. Please consider making it easier to pick up Installed Programs and Remember them for next time Use.

Error when launching

I get the following error when launching:

[Problem report] Move selected to another directory not working as expected

I was about to update my Win10 USB stick so i wanted to move my folder with some files to another location.
First issue is that it CAN'T move any Folders.
Second issue is that files don't get Cut and Pasted, they get Copied and Pasted.

[Freature Request] Have an options to turn off animation

Hello author. I know this is weird but can you add it in UI Options? Great app overall but i think it would be better for some one who had low power pc.

Feature request: This is one fatal annoyance in the windows file explorer, You cannot view folder sizes!

Right now the explorer only shows the number of files and not the size, Even in the "info" pane

[Problem report] Unable to build on macOS Catalina 10.15.7

[Feature request] single-click directory navigation

Feature request:

Note to self: add an option to open navigator items with a single click

[Problem report] Keyboard shortcuts not working.

From the above mention shortcuts only alt + w and alt + s work.

The arrow keys do nothing and the backspace key does not move up a directory (Yes I now we can press alt + Q but after so many years of using backspace it feels like it would be nice to have that as an option too.

[Feature request] Make the numpad work with the shortcuts

Feature request:

Idk if this is intended, maybe not, but i would be cool if we can use the numpad to complement the shortcuts, i mean e.g. currently i can not use Shift + 2 with the numpad's 2 key.

[Feature request] Folder Icons

In windows file explorer you can give folder's an icon. However the you can't give icons to folders in sigma.

[Problem report] Setting the app to minimize to tray and keep memory does not "work"

System info:

Problem:

Close and open the app from any shortcut.

Doing so will minimize when "closing" it but opening the app from the start menu or a shortcut will create a new instance and will not open the already cached/saved instance leading to this

And this

The only way AFAIK to open the cached/saved instance is to go all the way to the system tray (above image) and then right click and click open app window

And the shortcut ctrl+shift+space only seems to work if the last app to be in focus was sigma.

Fix

I'm not very experienced but here are a few suggestions.

1. allow only one instance when set to minimize to tray and keep memory
2. minimize to taskbar?

[Feature request] Support for OneDrive and OneDrive for Business

Feature request:

OneDrive should be easily accessible from the Home Page IF the user uses it.
Atm Sigma instantly downloads the photos/(probably files) when entering the folder.

[Problem Report] File date not reſpecting uſer ſetting

Problem:

The date is diſplayed in the Day Month Year format irreſpective of the uſer’s ſettings in the Operating Syſtem, which can be confuſing to the uſer, or awkwardly diſplayed. I’d recommend either following the ſetting defined by the OS, or a ſetting in the application for the uſer to define the date format they wiſh to uſe.

[Feature Request] Adding Right Click Context Menu Items

First of all, the application looks very nice, congratulations on that.

There are very useful shortcuts in the context menu that we open with a right click in Windows file explorer. A section can be great for moving or adding these shortcuts.

Hidden files/folders

Feature request:

A checkbox for show or hide hidden files/folders as in Window file explorer.

[Feature request] Possible light mode or higher dark mode contrast?

I found out the texts are pretty difficult to read with the greyish white text and dark blueish background.
Is it possible to have a light mode, or custom appearance, or whiter texts?
