twiddler's Introduction

Twiddler files

This repo contains configuration files for the one handed chording keyboard Twiddler.

As of 8/17/2015 I use only Twiddler 3. I don’t use Twiddler 2.1 anymore so my fingers don't have to keep adjusting from Twiddler 2 to Twiddler 3 buttons.

More info about this project can be found at http://google.com/+AlexBravo

I developed Backspice layout as an improvement of an already great TabSpace layout.

I use this layout all day, every day, at least 8 hours per day. Usually doing software development on a Mac.

Right now I only maintain Backspice layout for the left hand here, as I use only the left hand with it. You will definitely need to create a mirror layout if you want to use Twiddler with your right hand. Feel free to submit a pull request if you create such a layout.

twiddler's Issues

Tag last v1 commit

Hey Alex!

Can you please start using tags/releases? Noticed this morning the v in the cheat sheet no longer matched my config. I'm committed to v1 at this point so would be lovely to have a tag to pick that version. Release would also be great time to list all changes and why you did them.

Thanks!

Advice for learning MCCs?

This is not an issue with Backspice per se, but your advice was helpful to me before so I thought I would ask. I'm closing in on 30wpm with Backspice, practicing with keybr, but I haven't learned any of the MCCs and I'm not sure of the best way to go about doing this. I also want to learn all the punctuation marks, arrow keys, etc (my goal is to use the twiddler to run emacs). Do you have any advice for this stuff?

Thanks!

Simplified Backspice config does not match cheatsheet

Alex,

I've been playing with my new Twiddler 3 and decided to switch from the full Backspice to the simplified one. I have found several discrepancies and was preparing to correct the config and the cheatsheet, but there are several cases for which it's not clear to me which is correct.

Here are some of the issues:

  • MOOO is producing "I", not "s".
  • Cheatsheet says v = i+t+a and y = i+h; however i+t+a is not producing anything and i+h is producing "v". MOOL is producing "y", but is not shown on the cheatsheet.
  • Cheatsheet shows "g" in 2 places, OMMO and MOOR, but MOOR is not producing anything.

I think I checked all the letters and numbers, but I didn't check the other characters as they seemed to match the full Backspice config, so I assumed you didn't make any changes when creating the simplified config from the original.

I wouldn't mind fixing the config or cheatsheet or both if you can clarify what your intent was. Probably the easiest thing would be for you to proof and correct the cheatsheet and then I can try to make the configuration agree with it.

I am using the original tuner as I'm not familiar with Twidor and am not sure it will work 100% correctly with the Twidler 3 layout. Do you think I should go ahead and learn how to use Twidor?

Thanks,

Ken
