ice-and-fire-suggestions's Issues

Active/inactive Volcano (fortress)

A truly dangerous place to be and even more dangerous to explore, Active/inactive volcano's act similarly to dragons nests, and can rarely spawn in Jungle biomes or desert biomes.

Each volcano houses Fire Dragons, with each lava tube opening up into a lair or a lava pool, or if your in a inactive Volcano Dead ends. Each volcano will spawn their own group of dragons Ranging From tier 3-4 and very rarely 5

Each volcano will how a certain number of smaller tiers and one "alpha" meaning
If an Alpha dragon is a Stage 4 all dragons below him will be stage 3 tiered, if you come out unlucky and the Alpha is a Stage 5 all dragons below him will be tiers 3-4

Volcanos can vary in size. With Inactive Volcanos being generally small and holding small amounts of Tier 3 and Alpha 4's and to Larger Active Volcanos which end up Holding Medium Amounts of tier 3-4 and Alpha 5

Idea originally thought of by HellsPurestDevil.

Adding benefits to Dragon Armor.

Ice dragons swim, so what about adding the equivalent of Respiration 3 to the ice dragon scale helmet.

Another is to add the equivalent to Fire Protection 4 to the fire dragon scale boots.

I can't think of any other element based enchantments short of Frost Walker, but that wouldn't made sense since Ice Dragons are swimmers.

Dragon Scale Shields

Simply just shields made from both Dragon Bone and Scales to add a little extra protection against the type of dragon the scales come from?

[MOB IDEA] Omukade, the dragon-eating centipede

While looking at the Pokemon Giratina, and it's possible inspiration, I found something that might be of interest to this mod.

In the Japanese fairy tale "My Lord Bag of Rice", a character named Omukade appears. Omukade is a massive centipede that eats baby dragons. Would it be possible to add a giant, centipede-like mob that targets younger dragons? It might make rearing dragons a bigger risk.

http://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/72/japanese-fairy-tales/4846/my-lord-bag-of-rice/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lord_Bag_of_Rice

http://www.sacred-texts.com/shi/jft2/jft204.htm

https://www.spookyweb.org/giant-centipede/

Omukade could have a poisonous bite that inflicts wither on players and dragons, and while moving, could have a slim chance of destroying weaker blocks. Omukade would be a mountain spawn, and would follow dragons out of the mountains to eat them.

Omukade would take extra damage from bows and arrows when shot in the head, though you could attack the betweens of each segment of his body for extra damage as well, after all, he is a giant centipede. However, Omukade would count as being fairly armored, due to their body's nature. Despite this, they are incredibly fast.

If Omukades are not controlled, they will kill all of your dragons, by simply overpowering them, or even grabbing them out of the sky.

While Omukade, in this case, refers to one centipede, multiple mobs like Omukade could spawn, as opposed to just one.

Hippocampi in rivers, like river dolphins.

Hippocampus spawning in river biomes. To prevent them from spawning in little puddles there could be a minimum space requirement, like there is for saplings to grow. A 7x7x7 square area of unobstructed water source blocks might be good. Only very deep and wide rivers have space like that, the ones that can be used to get around by boat.

Criticism encouraged.

More Dragon Types Addon

you think it would be cool to make an addon so there can be other types of dragons such as lightning, earth, dark and so on with possibly undead dragons, regarding skeletal dragons that are only active at night possibly?

Dragon saddle bags

i would like dragon saddle bags like when you place a chest on mules but for dragons

Dragon Heart Ritual

So had a thought while watching movies (betting you can guess which ones) and had this thought:
Would it be possible to use the dragon hearts in a ritual in which the user fuses the Dragon Heart to them self, granting a permanent buff, but only able to be preformed once.
Such as: Using a Fire Dragon's Heart, to gain a resistance to Dragon Fire, but becoming weaker to Ice Dragon's breath, and perhaps more traditional bonus, such as increased health and/or regeneration.

Dragon armor visual enhancment

It would be nice to be able to combine dragon armor with scales so that it blends in more with the dragon, as I would rather see dragon scales on my dragons, than bright shiny light blue. This would not add any armor to the dragon just make them look better(in my opinion), thus it would not disrupt game balance.

lava boulder class dragon

wafp9up
a dragon like this but with some wing
that eats lava to form boulders that spits boulders out as an attack
and sleeps nearly all day

Another use for the dragon horn item

It could be used to call a tamed dragon to you, since they seem to fly away and never return. But even when that is fixed, having this feature will still be pretty useful.

Phoenix

Fire bird
Upon death, a baby phoenix appears in it's place

Kirin

Sorry, the suggestion is a copy and paste from a forum.
Hello everybody, my name is Ben and here is my suggestion
Is it okay to make a quick suggestion, I think it is.
I would like to suggest the Kirin (or Qilin, this beast has multiple names from different mythologies in Asia. But i'm going by the Japanese nature for some reason). I will post a picture to what a kirin might look like and a link to the information I used and where I learnt it from in a spoiler. If the Kirin was in the mod: It would be a rare and neutral mob, due to Kirins being benevolent beings that love nature. Normally these creatures would respect the player(s) around it by being friendly towards them which means the players can tame it as for their own. Once tamed they will respect the player and allow them to ride and shoot fireballs (holy flames, so yellow, emerald or gold flames) when mounted. These animals will only attack if someone was destroying the nature and polluting it, so like setting off lots of TNT or introduce evil mobs around it as a few examples. They will ram the player if in close proximity and shoot holy flames at the player or if they were further away they would just shoot holy flames. Killing a peaceful kirin doesn't go well, as it can leave very bad effects that leave misfortune on the player that can take(minecraft) days to remove.
A kirin is seen in mythology as a quadruped horse like creature with some different features. They might have dragon style scales present on them, usually have large amounts of flame like hair around their body, antlers, maybe small horns on their noses I don't know and most depictions have them with large whiskers that further extend the snout, maybe the to half the size of the mob.
Here is where I got the info:

An Olm or Proteus mob?

Amphibians were brought up on the discord, but it was asked how amphibians could possibly fit into the mod. Have you ever heard of the Olm. Also called the Proteus and sometimes the Olm Dragon?

It's a blind, fully-aquatic, cave salamander that can grow to a little over a foot long and is found only in Europe. They can live over 100 years and recently there was a big splash over some having laid eggs in this cave where tourists can go watch them. People used to believe that they were seeing baby dragons when heavy rains would wash some from underground

It may just be an animal, but it would simply add to the atmosphere of the mod to have "Olm" or "Proteus" commonly spawning in shaded pools below a specific elevation. This mod has become renowned for its attention to detail and I'm trying to think up a use for them beyond ambiance so please feel free and jump in with any ideas.

Just came up with one. XD

It makes them magical and attaches them to the dragon myth while giving them a use. Throwing one a golden nugget (or maybe some other precious metal or gemstone) to receive a short-lived "blessing" depending on what enchantable tool, weapon, or piece of armor you switch to holding after it accepts your "gift". Fortune if you switch to a pickaxe, infinity if you switch to a bow, and thorns if you switch to a chestplate are examples. Enchantments that you could receive if you used an enchantment table. Sort of like the wishing wells you find when you open lucky blocks. There would be a cooldown, but you can always come back and toss it another nugget for another blessing later. Something odd like this could fit, because I can't think of any use for their squishy bodies and running around squashing little salamanders seems somehow meaner than usual. XD

If Just A Few Fish is ever updated to 1.10.2 like the developer has promised, then compatibility would be nice for transporting them in water buckets and keeping them in tanks like you can the fish for moving them to more convenient locations.

Sirens

A Siren is a creature most known from greek mythology , able to lure sailors into their deaths by producing a song that sway even the most prepared of people . ~
Spawns : In the ocean on little rocky islands ( In groups ??? )
Abilities : Makes a singing noise whenever a player is near and automatically makes the player walk move towards them ( Controls player movement )
Slashes with claws ( or really sharp nails ) as their way to kill players , and or bites
Looks : Like a distorted mermaid , open to different perceptions
( Just an idea I had when I saw this mod , I personally am obsessed with the greek stories and find them an amazing way to spend time if bored )
Ways to counter the song : Maybe some type of earmuffs or earplugs ( Wax ???? )

Glide with dragon

Ok, so I was thinking about HTTYD and scenes from the second movie with the glide suit and that got me to thinking. Minecraft 1.10.2 has elytra in it. And the dragon mounts mod is open source and claims that when flying with elytra the dragon will glide next to you (I have not tested this myself). So I thought what if the developers somehow implemented a feature like that with the dragons where you can glide with wings and they will follow and glide along with you in mid air. That leads me on to my next idea. Wearing vanilla elytra is very very ugly unless the only thing you are wearing is the pair of elytra. So what if there was a new item/armor piece that could be crafted that was a dragon armor chest plate in the middle of the crafting grid, a Pair of elytra under it, and then maybe some slime balls or something filling up the other 7 slots. (Let me try to demonstrate below)

H = Chest Plate
V = Elytra
O = SlimeBall

O O O
O H O
O V O

So this would basically craft a Dragon Wing Suit where if you where falling it and pressed spacebar it would activate like elytra and if you where wearing full dragon armor you would look amazing while doing it all the while having your dragon gliding next to you at your side.

A second use for the Dragon Horn. “Get Back Down Here!”

There currently is a major problem where, regardless of whether or not a dragon is staying or allowed to wander, if a tamed dragon becomes air born it cannot be commanded to land and will remain air born. In effect, if you accidentally dismount midair for example, you have just lost your dragon. Unless you have cheats enabled, switch to creative, and chase it down midair.

My idea is to use the Dragon Horn like a horn to call it back. Not just from the air, but to just call it closer whether wandering or staying so you don't have to chase it around. Like a dog whistle. If the dragon is already set to stay then stay is what it will do when it reaches you. If it is set to wander then once it reaches you it will go back to wandering until it is told to stay, but at least now it is within reach.

First version. When you first use a horn on a dragon that horn becomes bound to that dragon. It can only be used on that dragon. The reason for this is so you can use the horn to call a wandering or flying dragon to you. You blow on the horn the same way you summon a dragon, but you don’t have to be aiming at a block to do it and it makes the sound of a low, deep horn with the same animation as when you summon a dragon. The dragon bound to that horn will be drawn to you whether it is in flight or meandering on the ground somewhere.

If there are obstructions it will quickly give up trying to reach you or the calling will simply be canceled when an obstruction is encountered, to prevent your precious pet from smothering itself in a cliff for example. So just relocate and try again or use the horn pick it up if it is within reach.

The second version of this is that any horn can be used to call closer any dragons bound to you. If a dragon is out of its horn and you use a horn, any horn, the dragon will walk/ fly over to you. Once within range and on the ground you can command it or stick it in its horn. Again blowing on a horn to call a dragon would have the same animation as with summoning a dragon from the horn accompanied with the sound of a low, deep horn.

Using the horn to call your dragon over a distance only works if the dragon is of course within range. Try it from too far away and it just won’t happen. But I would hope that the range would be quite far. Possibly as far if not further than the sounds of their wings. So if you can hear them, they can hear you.

Any thoughts?

Typed this up while suffering a head cold, so if any of this reads weird now you know why...

Tilling charred grass into charred farmland for more crops.

Dragons are massive creatures that didn't just pop up out of nowhere. They must have evolved as part of the ecosystem. So the environment would probably respond to dragon fire like it would forest fires. Land scorched by dragon fire wouldn't be infertile. Agricultural Burning is regularly used after the harvest in modern and old world countries alike to both clean the fields of the plant remains and fertilize the land for next year's crops.

My idea (I don't know if this has been brought up before) is that tilling charred grass blocks would turn it into charred farmland and you would harvest three times more crops. If not indefinitely then for a number of harvests or Minecraft days. It would be a new reason to own a fire dragon and create a reason for crop rotation, because it is burnt grass blocks that would produce this charred farmland. The land would have to lay fallow to let the grass regrow once it is no longer fertile if you want the boost.

The appearance, I imagine like the other charred blocks, would be a darkened and grayer version of the vanilla farmland block.

Kobolds

Had the thought of dungeons and dragons-like Kobolds and Kobold Lairs, potentially leading into a Dragon's Cavern.
Could be a 1 block tall draconic-humanoid creature that could be found in small camps on the surface, or larger groups in trap filled cave-lairs, and could serve as another way to find a dragon's lair via a special tunnel and another threat to a potential dragonslayer?

And I will admit right now, for any one who recognizes the reference, had the idea of using CustomNPCs to make one named Deekin and giving it a musical instrument.

Raising your pet dragon from the dead.

so remember my idea about the dragon skeletons in the desert rising at night to kill you? yeah well this is an extension to that idea. what if when you killed those undead dragons after they had risen they would drop a special item that you could use to summon your dead friend back from the dead? here's how it would work:

*you would first need a dragon that you raised from an egg that is at least stage 3 or higher
*if this dragon where to die, you would right click it with this one-time-use item and it would bring your dragon back to life as a skeletal dragon(or zombie dragon) with glowing orbs for eyes
*the drawbacks for this would be pretty impact-ful as, after you had risen your friend from the dead... it will not progress in strength nor in size... stuck for eternity as a shell of what it once was.
*your undead dragon would breath blue fire if it where a fire dragon and it would breath regular ice if it where a ice dragon ( because ice is cold and so is death itself)
*your undead dragon's appearance depends on if it has been harvested for all of it's scales or not. if not, then it would rise as a corpse dragon, having a sickly, slimy, dripping look with bits of bone showing through where the rotten, green flesh has rotted away and rips in the wing membrane. something like undead horses in vanilla. If it has been harvested for it's scales, however, then it would rise as a bare skeleton with glowing orbs for eyes. flying only be the power of magic.

(if there was no corpse left you would not be able to raise our fallen comrade from the dead)

Dragon command "staff" visual enhancment

i have a major pet-peeve about the dragon command staff, it say's "staff" but it isn't the size of a staff, nor does it look like it has a dragon skull on it, i think it should have a 3D model that is at least as long as a player is tall, that way you get the actual feeling of being a bad-ass carrying a dragons skull on a walking stick. I.E. something closer to this:

Glacier size configuration?

Loaded many worlds with biomes o plenty and ice and fire, seems that the Glacier biome size overtakes a huge area which is quite realistic and amazing but if it could be configured that would be great! Thanks!

Dragon skeletons Animate during the night (or full moon?)

i, along with another think that the dragon skeletons that spawn in deserts should come back to life as skeletal dragons with glowing orbs for eyes during the night (or maybe just during a full moon?) and start killing everything only to return to mere piles of bones when the moon sets and the sun rises.

Bigger attack range

Dragons should be able to detect enteties they attack while airborne, so that an epic Smaug vs Lake Town scene could be possible. XD

Dragons have magic resistance/AM2 compatibility

Was told to move this here.

"Was watching videos on YouTube. Saw a max level fire dragon get 2 shoted by a high level ice spell from Ars Magica 2. I believe it was blizzard. I'm not certain if was due to it being ice damage, or magic damage in general, but I feel that dragons should be resistant to magic. (Baring blood alchemy from the mod.)

The video can be found here. The part in question starts around the 20 minute mark. (And he's invisible, though he did report similar AI behavior in a test world while visable.)

https://youtu.be/U8kTep3Dlxg

There is a younger dragon who is similarly done in with a standard ice spell earlier in the same video."

Dragon poachers

Villagers that usually hang around in groups, hunting dragons.

Sitting Model Pose

an animation or pose of sorts for when a dragon is in staying mode like it is sitting (raptorfarian once said something about using the sleeping position with the eyes open) and a swimming animation for the fire dragon... maybe not so much swimming since they don't swim but maybe a floating animation so fire dragons don't just look like ther are walking on water

Idea (Spear)

Make the sperars craftble cus it really hard to find a snow vilager that sells them

Gliding

Dragons, for the sake of realism, should be able to glide from time to time, and while gliding they slowly loose altitude. I dunno, flapping their wings all the time should tire them pretty fast, considering the fact how big they are.

Dragon fishing/breaching AI

Similar to jurassicrafts Drinking AI where dinosaurs will actively seek out water sources and drink from them, Dragons when close to water, Will "fish" striking their heads into the water before pulling it out and vigorously shaking as though they have caught a fish.
Another version for this AI could be used for swimming ice dragons, who whilst swimming, will occasionally dash around shaking their heads, like their fishing underwater. If you wanna go one step further, You can have ice dragons Breach and snap at prey who are swimming or are at the waters edge and have them drag their prey under the water to drown them before eating them.

Credit for the idea goes to Snuffy, who originally thought of it. XDX

Centaur

Dragon Inventories, Hydras, Griffons, and Cerebus?

How about dragons having inventories for food that only the owner can access? The dragon should only eat the food when it is hungry btw. That way, you can put food in the dragon and the dragon eats food by itself. Also, I don't know if this is scientifically possible (there are 2 headed things in the world like snakes so I don't see why not) but how about hydras and Cerebuses? Also, how about griffons, although there are gonna be hypogriffs, why not with the Griffins :P.

Scared farmland animals

It would be very cool if animals, when in the same chunk as a dragon, start to run around as if they where hit. I think that would add even more life to the mod.

Ability to Make Dragon Bones and flesh into Dragon Meal

It would be nice to be able to use dragon bones to make dragon meal, perhaps using dragon flesh and bones you could create around 4 dragon meal. This would be a nice way to use extra dragon bones, especially seeing as it takes tons of dragon meal to grow you dragon.

Tamed dragons home points

There could be a golden statue or totem of some sort, which when binded to a tamed dragon, could be placed down and act as the dragon's home point, around which he'll roam like a wild one does around his lair. Or simply an interface option to set the dragon's home point much like an MCA villager.

A button key for fire/ice blast attack

Whenever im burning or freezing stuff down on my dragon like villages (revenge for all those ripoffs in the past!) I would like to at least leave some holes and craters in the land. Just seeing fire and charred blocks gets just kinda bland after a while.
