I have done some tests in creative, i think it has to do with the animation the hyppogriph does whenever you mount him while he was sitting: as long as the animation is running if you dismount the code doesn't check for collisions with blocks, so it falls in the void (it also happens if you command him to sit/get up with the stick and you dismount too quickly)

this should be fixed in the latest version by not setting nophysics to true
(not sure if it was added to 1.18)
