Handle case where branch already exists

@jakebolam Oh haha, it happened a couple times.
I was testing if it was working with plurals (with or without a period at the end) and the test bot I set up on Sandbox doesn't seem to respond to any of the calls.

Side note: the bot once commented this:

This project is not yet setup for all-contributors.

You will need to first setup Sandbox using the all-contributors-cli tool.

Where the second paragraph was in a blockquote which I wasn't expecting (perhaps due to an accidental indentation at the start).
