Onion Control slider switches itself Off

Steps: click Onion Control to On. Browse around awhile. Click toolbar icon again.

Expected: Onion Control slider is still on. (Maybe a feature request here, but it should reestablish connectivity or alert us and not let any non-tor traffic through if anything breaks—so yeah, Expected is: it is still set how I set it.)

Observed: Slider is to the right, reading Off. Status field is blank.

However, on this occasion at least, rather than just clicking it On, I tried to get more info by clicking Verify, clicking Status, and hovering to see the icon's status tool-tip. I don't know how to read status output, but it seems pretty clear it was actually still connected correctly.

getting 1007 & -4058 errors when turning extension on

The first time I installed the NodeJS native client and Chrome extension, it worked fine! After I turned the extension off, the next time I tried, I get these two errors:

Onion Control error 1
Onion Control error 2

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the client and Chrome extension, but with no luck.

Onion Control - Native Client failing to load with Browser Bundle

Hi,

Apologies if I have missed a article on the fix for this. Been trying to fix it myself for a bit with no luck.

I am Using the Onion Control. When I enable the slider, It takes me to the Web Tab "Native Client is installed"

"Check Connection" is successful

Onion Control Options has been set to the following path:

C:\Users\username\Downloads\tor-bundle-master

Which is where the file has been extracted.

Native Client Master has been placed in the following location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Tor Proxy for Firefox\native-client-master
Debug Logs.txt

I have attached the debug logs in case anyone is able to advise.

New version release.

will you release the new version in github? i can't find any other way to download the new version.

Options page - Root directory

Hi, I can't save the root directory in the options page. Any idea ? Thanks. (Firefox 56.0 32-bit, Windows 10 64-bit)

Tor Bundle refuses to connect

Running Tor Browser on Firefox 84.0.1 on Linux Mint 20. Pressing the switch I get the "Native Client is Installed!" page come up with all three items to do ticked off and the
"If you still get this page even when the "Check Button" reports successful connection, it means the application cannot be accessed (path is not correct in the options page)" hilghted in red. Yet when I check the root "/home/owen/Downloads/tor-bundle-0.1.2" it is correct.

Tor + Opera VPN = Connection problems

IDK for sure if this is a bug in the extension or not. But I figured I would let you know either way. So, when I turn off Tor using your extension Opera will no longer connect to any websites. It shows an error page that reports no Internet connection. My connection works in other browsers and will work in Opera if I turn on Tor or if I turn on the built in VPN feature., So I figure it has something to do with the proxy settings not going back to default? idk for sure., Here is what I did exactly if you want to try to recreate the bug.

1.) install extension + bundle + client (with vpn off)
2.) connect to tor using extension and verify tor (with vpn off)
*Verification good & extension reports tor as ON
3.) turn on vpn & verify Tor. (with vpn on)
*Verification failed - extension reports tor as OFF
4.) connect to Tor using extension & verify tor (with vpn on)
*Verification failed & extension reports tor as ON
5.) turn off vpn & verify tor (with vpn off)
*Verification good & extension reports tor as ON
6.) turn off tor using extension (with vpn off)
*No connection error
7.) turn on either vpn or tor (but not both)
*connection works

so... ummm, yeah. Let me know if you can re-create the issue or if my report has helped you at all..

Chromebook

Please, how do i get the version that works for google chromebook?

Also, i am new in this. can someone give me a rundown on how to install and use the tor bundle? I've been having serious issues with it.

News feature request

Hi Andy Portmen,

thank you for this software, for me it makes a nice middle way from the
extreme security of Tor browser with not bookmark and sync and the
more friendly Firefox with all the open source cutting edge conforts.

I am requesting an option to auto enable Onion control at Firefox boot, so that
I can forget it and surf the internet within the Tor enabled circuit.

By now if i actually close Firefox with the Oc switch turned on at the next Firefox boot
I need to switch it on again. Without this I get a proxy error and have no internet access.
