Hey,

Sorry for the delay...

The problem is that ActiveResource doesn't mark the object as persisted after creation and that's because of the empty response body we receive from Basecamp:

> message = Basecamp::Message.new(:project_id => "1234", :title => "Title", :body => "Body")
> response = Basecamp::Message.connection.response
> response.code
=> "201" 
> response['Location']
=> "/posts/69524264.xml"
> response.body
=> " " 

ActiveResource gets the id from the location: http://apidock.com/rails/v2.3.8/ActiveResource/Base/id_from_response but can't load the attributes from the response: http://apidock.com/rails/v2.3.8/ActiveResource/Base/load_attributes_from_response so it doesn't mark the object as persisted and the to_param method returns nil.

So you'll have to find the message after creation using the object id:

> message = Basecamp::Message.new(:project_id => "1234", :title => "Title", :body => "Body")
> message = Basecamp::Message.find(message.id)
> message.reload
=> #<Basecamp::Message:0x00000102359348 ...
