The changes fixed at least 1 bug I found by trying to run apt-mirror on a non-debian system. I still use this application in production and it has a few more bugs I would like to fix.

The question is what is the technical direction of this application now?

I stuck that fork online because the authors and maintainers of apt-mirror appear to have abandoned it and trying to contact the authors proved fruitless. If development is actually going to resume I recommend paying down the applications technical debt, specifically the lack of a test suite. If one exists but was not released with the code, please make this publicly available please.

This application was an extreme pain to work on with no way to test changes and I am loath to do more work on the application without it.

@kimmel I don't believe there has been any test suite. I'm part of the apt-mirror team as well as the Debian packaging team. Just taking a cursory glance at your fork the first observation I had was that since you didn't actually fork the project trying to do a PR to merge will be time consuming as it'll have to be done manually.

Is it really needed to add another parameter? Can't we always use unlink or are there drawbacks from unlink that requires us to have an option?

Why don't you close this issue? The kimmel fork hasn't been committed to in 6 years.

Okay. Closing this ticket. Please open a pull request in case you rebase your changes on top of the current master branch.

PS: When I have too much time, I will rewrite apt-mirror in Python, Go, or Rust (including a test suite to improve maintainability).
