What is the AOT Browser?

In Dynamics AX 2012 and earlier it was possible for power users to be able to open and browse the contents of the AOT (Application Object Tree) from the UI. This functionality was removed in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as all development is now done in Visual Studio. This means that in order to browse the contents of the AOT, one now needs access to a development environment with Visual Studio.

AOT Browser to save the day! With the AOT Browser it is now possible to browse the objects in the AOT from the D365FO web interface.

How do I get to the AOT Browser?

In the D365FO web interface navigate to Common > Common > AOT browser

DataSource property is added to object tree

In some object types such as entities and forms, the fields or controls have a child in the tree for datasource. In these cases, it is just a string and should not be added to the tree, but just be in the properties grid.

Error when build Project

Hi AOTBrowser team,

Firstly., thank you for creating this model and actively update it.

We want to create package deployment consist of our models and AOTBrowser model. There is no issue when creating package manually from DEV machine or from Build VM. But now we are migrating the build to Azure build.
One of the requirement during compilation is to create a VS solution containing projects for each model. This VS solution will run by Azure pipeline to build and create package. For more information, you can refer to this: https://ariste.info/en/dynamics365almguide/configure-pipeline/

Although the package is created and successfully deployed, AOTBrowser form is unable to open and error: "Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program". The other error that is often appear is "unable to locate method AOTBrowser.update(boolean)".
Then I tried to build the project manually in VS, and same error appear when click AOTBrowser tile. But when I build the model, the error disappear, although a warning message appear: An error occurred while loading assembly 'Dynamics.AX.AOTBrowser, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null': 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

So, the question are:

1. How to build the project without resulting error?
2. How to solve the warning message when loading assembly?

View Code Not Working

Hi everyone,
I have installed the template on a sandbox environment version 10.0.31 (10.0.1406.139), but even activating the source code view feature does not display the screen as per the documentation.

DLL for reference is missing Arbela.Dynamics.AX.Xpp.Support

When you compile the provided package you’re getting a lot of error because of the missing DLL for reference is missing Arbela.Dynamics.AX.Xpp.Support. I think you simply missed to add the DLL from the bin-folder.

Uncorrect string size on table fields

Hi everyone,
We've noticed lately that some table string fields have incorrect string size (always set to 10 when incorrect it seems).

For example, CustTable field CustAccount has string size set to 20 and it appears as 10.
We've implemented AOTBrowser in two customers so far and we've noticed the same behaviour on both.
Please find a screenshot below of the specified behaviour.

Could you please elucidate on why this is happening?

In the meantime, I believe one of our developers is making efforts to fix this issue, is there a way to contribute to the project?

This is exactly what I need but I am having problems of figuring out the installation part. I should download the Deployable package and what should I do with it. Put it somewhere or ?

Form design control order

The controls in the object tree under the form design are not showing in the correct order.

Display actual line numbers in View Source Code

Hi
Thanks for such a great tool. Just an idea to improve - if you view a method source line numbering for every method starts with 1..
Is it possible to display the actual line number for the method in View Source Code. In should be the same as in Visual studio

Questions

1. Do you have plans to allow users to Browse a data entity similar to a table?
2. Isn't viewing a data entity the same viewing the data from a View?
