hello, I noticed that since yesterday starting armbian-config in the list of personal software to install, there is no more OMV (openmediavault) why? Thank you
OMV no longer provides dedicated arm images based on armbian:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/openmediavault/files/OMV%205.x%20for%20Single%20Board%20Computers/
with version 5 (based on buster) they recommend (https://forum.openmediavault.org/index.php/Thread/28789-Installing-OMV5-on-Raspberry-PI-s-Armbian-Supported-SBC-s/ and in their documentation: https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/docs/blob/master/Adden-A-Installing_OMV5_on_Armbian.pdf) using their own script (https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/install) instead of the IMO more convenient way over armbian-config. From a (really) quick overview I didn't spot a difference between their script and what amrbian-config does when 'converting' armbian into a OMV but I might be wrong here cause I didn't compare it fully.
Since Thomas stepped back from maintaining OMV on Arm boards the direct communication between both projects seems to be less tight. And (in the future) needed changes to our installation routine on armbian-config may not find its way into our repository. To avoid confusion (was it installed over armbian-config or https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/install) I think it would make sense to drop OMV 5 from armbian-config or the OMV project adjusts their documentation and contributes to the maintenance of this part, to ensure armbian-config 'does the right thing' for a proper OMV experience.
As an OMV user since years I would like to see it back in armbian-config with an adjusted documentation but from a maintenance perspective I don't see a reason to keep it when the main project (OMV) specifically for armbian doesn't recommend to use it.

Many programs are missing in this menu.
Missing Sonarr, Radarr and much more than described in the https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Armbian-Config/
EDIT: coned the config straight from git and installed it, but can't open sonarr with sonarr command...
How can I solve this?
Hi!
I have some questions about gpu scaling. they are present on my rockpi4 dtb some scaling options
for the gpu itself. but they are on hexadecimal values and its a bit messy going around dtbs, unpacking , packing, etc.
off topic from last issue: when ive tried to reinstall the armbian-config I didnt do update before, thas why ive never found it before and sent that nonsense issue hahahhaha so stupid from me.
thanks on advance. wonderful os.
Can't seem to find a decent way to uninstall this. ISPConfig originally has uninstall.php script included, however that doesn't seem to work with this repo.
They must have changed something, regardless I've updated my fork to fix it

Hello,
As i'm not able to enable/disable hardware options (i've tried a lot of keys , but no one do the work), it's possible to add an help field similar to the one shown in the link?
Surely it's my fault, but i think that this can improve the readability of configuration utility a bit.
I own a OrangePi Zero with Armbian Bionic 5.59

armbian-config should work behing an internet proxy. i.e. when http_proxy is defined, etc.
I am installing one board at work, and I could not workout why armbian-config is not working.
The line:
echo -e "GET http://github.com HTTP/1.0\n\n" | nc github.com 80 > /dev/null 2>&1
It is failing to detect that the firewall is cutting access to port 80, and armbian-config just hungs without returning any error.
Hello
I install armbian-config on my raspberry 3b +.
I would like to use the feature to create an access point.
But unfortunately the script faile before the end because of dnsmasq.

After choosing tvheadend from software list, system proceeds to blue screen and does nothing. Tried on orange pi one with bionic on it
select_default_interface() function will skip any interface that doesn't have inet address. Therefore we cannot choose an interface without an existing IP address for manually configuring it... which doesn't make sense.
[[ -n $IPADDR && $IPADDR != "172.24.1.1" ]] && LIST+=( "${i[0]//[[:blank:]]/}" "${IPADDR}" )
Why -n $IPADDR
? Any reason to ignore interface without address ?
If somebody has more info - please add in the comments.

Hi!
My board is Banana Pi+ with you image armbian but with patchet bfs kernel
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/
I install you image, download kernel from souce, use bfs patch, clean some modules from source, create debs and install
Now i look to install new kernel.
I download new kernel from kernel.org, unpack, than @make_old_config, patch with new MuQSS patches
from http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/muqss/ and try to compile new deb packs.
But i have many errors (
Can you help with compile new deb packs with MuQSS patchs and some @old_configs?
Commnd fakeroot make -j5 deb-pkg LOCALVERSION=-mytest KDEB_PKGVERSION=1
work for new kernel? Thank you
Seems armbian-config can't find appropriate headers for NEO 2.
I used nand-sata-install to copy the filesystem over to system on sata / usb whilst choosing btrfs as the filesystem.
After using softy to install docker, the docker daemon wouldn't start. All that was needed was to add /etc/docker/daemon.json
as mentioned in the docker docs.
{
"storage-driver": "btrfs"
}
If the docker install could take this into account, that would be great. Thanks!
I wanted to move the whole filesystem to external USB drive. I've used 'install' option in the armbian-config
. It had asked me to format the new drive, and offered a variety of filesystems (I picked btrfs
).
Then it had copied the whole filesystem (well, it turns out that without boot
directory)… so far so good.
It failed to boot; I poked around a bit, and with some help I've figured out the boot order and realised, that setenv
line in boot.cmd
point to the good drive (UUID), but specifies wrong filesystem type.
The setup process asks for filesystem type, but forgets to update uboot's
boot.cmd
accordinglysetenv bootargs "console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty1 root=UUID=2f938bf2-82d8-4e69-83d9-3c662553dccd rootwait rootfstype=ext4 cgroup_enable=memory
So I've changed it (lit. rootfstype=btrfs
), recompiled using uboot-tools
and voilà.

Hi all,
i just updated my BananaPi to Armbian Buster (Armbian 5.91).
The configuration utility there seems to be broken in its 'Graphics' (see picture). The submenus look alike, even that special submodules as the Timezone-Module still look good.
Unfortunately i don't know, where this could come from, so i can't fix it by myself. :/

When syncthing is installed via arbiam-config the installation is made so that the service is run as root. This is discouraged by the syncthing team, see here:
https://forum.syncthing.net/t/running-syncthing-as-root/6316
So this should be default configured for the usage of an unpriviledged user.
Adding and switching locales using standard methods via "dpkg-reconfigure locales" and "dpkg-reconfigure console-setup" are not used on the system. Cyrillic characters are not displayed.
The solution is to edit the file "/etc/environment" in which you need to replace LC_ALL = "C" with LC_ALL = "your locale" (in my case, uk_UA.utf8). After that, there were no problems with displaying cryrilic symbols.
It may be possible to add the locale in the "/etc/environment" file to the script after selecting the default locale.
Tested on Ubuntu Bionic with Armbian Linux 4.19.63-sunxi64 for NanoPi Neo2.
Sorry for my English. (Google translate)
For most board builds, default eth0 configuration is DHCP mode. So if you boot your board in a network without DHCP server (in some case) there won't be any default route setup.
Because select_default_interface
function look for default route to determine default interface, in the above situation select_default_interface
will return lo interface which make the Static IP address assignement menu a bit useless.
Maybe select_default_interface
function could rely on /sys/class/net instead ?
Also in case you manage to edit eth0 static ip address via armbian-config ip_editor
function will override completely /etc/network/interface, getting ride of lo interface which shouldn't happen.
Maybe all interface configs except 'lo interface' should be move in /etc/network/interfaces.d/ and ip_editor
should only override stuff in this folder.
Simple /bin/bash -n
check:
./debian-software: line 1550: syntax error near unexpected token `>'
./debian-software: line 1550: `php -q install.php --autoinstall=${TEMP_DIR}/isp.conf.php &>> /var/log/ispconfig_config.log'
Regression.
Again we cannot set static IP on an unconfigured network interface because of the following test -n $IPADDR
config/debian-config-functions-network
Line 566 in 1fd13c2
Is there other use case where this test -n $IPADDR is required ? Because it was removed previously but is back again via this commit : 8c79473
On Bionic, NEO2, with Armbian 5.73 stable there is no Softether VPN in Softy? Is there a particular reason it has been removed?
Thanks!
I installed Syncthing via the cli with armbian-config.
It first installed the release candidate (v1.1.0-rc.1)
In Syncthing-Settings i changed it to "stable" only.
Now a new stable version showed up (1.1.0), but i can not update it.
Syncthing shows on the web-page:
upgrading: open /usr/bin/syncthing937255095: read-only file system
apt-update did also not show any updates.
How can i update (manually/automatically) to the new Syncthing version?

Since armbian-config
is now part of every new Armbian install and will be promoted more and more we have to take care about potential security issues.
Insecure handling of files below /tmp/
being the most severe issue based on a quick look.
Can you please take care of these issue (using mktemp [-d]
where possible)?
Maybe remove tv headend from the armbian config tool since it is not working.
the install script is now available over here: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/home-assistant/hassio-installer/master/hassio_install.sh
also the docker pull before fetching the script is not needed since the script handles everything..
Is possible to add this?
For some reason, I believe uninstalling some software, my armbian-config its not present on my system anymore. I think thats would never happens, there should be hold by default so no matter what you try to uninstall this key script didnt suffer the same faith.
I am able to reinstall it with this repo? Ive just want to setup everything again ahha

I have installed syncthing using softy on an odroid HC2. I am having syncthing-inotify configuration issues, but most importantly, I believe softy should remove syncthing-inotify from it's installation since it is officially depreciated:
As of version v0.14.40, the functionality of syncthing-inotify is integrated in Syncthing and can be enabled in the advanced configuration menu for individual folders.
Just to be complete: this is what I tried:
I started investigating this issue:
Dec 01 15:09:43 odroid systemd[1]: /etc/systemd/system/[email protected]:14: Unknown lvalue 'Requires' in section 'Install'
I tried to "fix" the syncthing-inotify configuration file by looking at the one in github. Note that the Requires section is in Unit, not Install.
I was looking to uninstall syncthing-inotify and discovered it was not installed via the package manager. For those looking into this, you need to know that softy is just this bash script
I would propose simple sanity checks for Softy as follows (should work with config files for the other daemons as well):
[ -f /etc/samba/smb.conf ] || LIST+=( "Samba" "Windows compatible file sharing" "off" )
[ "$family" = "Ubuntu" -o -f /etc/default/openmediavault ] || LIST+=( "OMV" "OpenMediaVault NAS solution" "off" )
Cant install OMV right now, I installed today for the first time, then erase SD card and cant install it again.
There are issues with dependencies with OMV and omv-extras.
In #44, - it was expected from me, that I would supply logging information with command armbianmonitor -u
. It was said that without that, issue report is invalid.
And maybe the same also was meant by confusing duplicate
tag closing reason in armbian/build#1279, armbian/build#1280, since that are separate issues, I don't know for sure.
During creation of that issues I didn't found bugreporting recommendations in the bugreport template or in README regarding what was appealing to. So I couldn't know that there is a armbianmonitor -u
command to enable logging and that it should be includded in bugreport.
Please add information to support bugreporting to make them more relevant for you.
There are info in template of build
repo, and none info for the config
repo, and info about armbianmonitor -u
is nowhere to be found.
