fs2ff suddenly not working- shows auto- connecting all the time

Hi..i was successful running fs2ff and it really is a great product...i was running the running the version 0.1.13 but suddenly it showed "unable to connect to flight simulator" when i tried connecting...i noticed that there is an update to .14 version but that shouldnt matter from what i read in one of the other threads....anyways, i decide to update it to new version which has auto-connect functionality...it keeps on showing "auto-connecting" and doesnt get connected...If i disable the auto connect option and manually try to connect, it shows the same error as earlier version which is "unable to connect to flight simulator".....i tried re-installing the fs2ff also but still not connecting....any fix to this?

ipad does not see msfs but iphone does

Occasionally I can see msfs as a device on my ipad pro v15.5 and I can usually see it on my iphone, but most of the time it won't display as a device in FF even though the IP for my FF is correct in FS2FF. You mentioned making sure a port was not blocked. How do I ensure that?

Flight log shows 0/0 end point for flight

First off, I love the software, it makes sim flying so much more fun and practical. I noticed ForeFlight has an option to track a flight, and it shows my departing airport, the path I took (pattern work) and right after the landing point the track line shoots from Boston to left of Africa.

I wouldn't consider this a make/break bug, just wanted to notate it in case someone else stumbles on it.

I verified this app works with FlyQ EFB from Seattle Avionics.

working with P3D v5

First of all, this is not a bug report.

The program itself won't work with P3D so I used P3D's LockheedMartin.Prepar3D.SimConnect.dll instead. Since P3D doesn't have a simconnect.dll(not in the SDK either), I just changed the name of P3D's dll to simconnect.dll, didn't change a single line of the codes, and it works, until it doesn't.

Everything looks normal, sometimes the traffic will have a 999+ altitude difference with the user aircraft, or sometimes ground aircraft will show up as airborne aircraft, I assume it was caused by the differences of simconnect.dll's version, or the absence or the real simconnect.dll. However it was solved by simply restarting the program.

The real problem that I have is the program will disconnect with P3D again and again, even though P3D is still running. At this point I have no idea what went wrong since I only know a little about coding and c#. All I was trying to achieve is to get this working with P3D, since I rarely fly with MSFS.

I really appreciate if you could take a look at this.

Is there an Xbox support?

Can this fs2ff be installed in Xbox? Is there any other option that I can use to have same capabilities as fs2ff?

Support auto-connecting to the sim

I keep forgetting to hit the connect button before flying. It'd be nice if fs2ff would just keep trying to connect until it manages to attach to Flight Simulator so I don't have to remember to do it.

Crashing WiFi

A bit of a weird one here...
After running FS2FF for a while my entire router (MG7540) will stop working and need to be restarted. This causes everyone connected to lose internet until the router is reset.

Ground speed incorrect with sim update 6.

Hello.

Many thanks for FS2FF. I use it every day! With the latest update for MFS, I am seeing an incorrect ground speed in ForeFlight. The pop-up instrument bar at the bottom is showing roughly double what the sim is reporting. I’m using the Working Title G1000 NXi if that helps. The picture below is from a flight in the default Caravan doing a ground speed of approximately 180 knots. Hope this helps.

Automatic reconnect?

I've noticed that fs2ff sometimes disconnects from MSFS, and ForeFlight switches back to the iPad's GPS, leaving a long teleportation in my flight track. ;)

It would be great if it could automatically reconnect to the sim for transitory disconnections like this.

(Ideally it wouldn't disconnect at all, though.)

Traffic not always visible in ForeFlight

First, thank you! This is great, and thank you for doing it.

I'm using FS2020 and ForeFlight. Currently I'm seeing "live" (ADS-B) traffic that FS2020 imports from Flightaware or whatever on ForeFlight, but I don't think I'm seeing any other player traffic. Here's an example of traffic that doesn't show up in ForeFlight:

And here's traffic that does:

(The 0 and 12.2 are the distances in miles from me to the traffic; I print it just for debugging purposes and don't send it to ForeFlight.)

The only thing that sticks out is the ID, 1, of AS-XGSK. I mean, 17171 isn't a valid ICAO either as far as I know; It's not possible that ForeFlight cares about the ICAO, is it?

Not showing app window

I downloaded the exe file and am using Windows 10. I followed instructions to allow run and disabled the private network firewall. I double click on file but nothing opens up. Am I missing something?

0.1.14 keeps crashing on me?

Sim: FS2020

The previous build was pretty solid for me this one seems to crash frequently (disappears). I think it happens on landing, I assume this isn't by design?

2. Land plane
3. Look for fs2ff running
   Result:
   the fs2ff process is gone.
   Expected:
   fs2ff should keep running after landing.

VATSIM Traffic with "ASA..."

I have an issue where anyone using "ASA" before their callsign numbers is displayed as "Alaska 1123" and only that callsign. I have seen more than one person showing on the VATSpy and Simaware VATSIM resources that are signed in as ASA2123 and ASA427 both being displayed as "Alaska 1123." The odd thing is that all other flights are just shown with their shorthand callsigns like SWA2076 or DAL932, for example. I have tried going through all different modes of making sure it wasn't me up to and including a full re-download and install of FS2FF.

If there are any kinds of files I can provide, let me know what it's called and where I might find them and I'm happy to upload that. It's more of a nuisance than a real problem.

Exe sometimes crashes when closing FS 2020

After leaving a session and closing FS 2020 the fs2ff exe crashes. I am not sure how verbose the crash log is, but i'm happy to share if it left something on my machine which I can upload.

This of course doesn't affect playability, really just a minor issue but wanted to mention it.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open FS 2020
2. Once on the main screen, open fs2ff exe
3. Go into a flight, fly around
4. Hit ESC, leave session.
5. On main screen exit out of FS 2020
6. App will sometimes crash

Additional Data

Got a feature request. Wondering if it might be possible to send some additional data across the wire, including: OAT (outside air temp), pressure altitude, and indicated airspeed. Appreciate the work you did putting this together. Working like a champ for me.

I verified this is working in Ozrunways, if you use simulator mode with broadcast mode on and set the direct ip in FS2FF to the Ipad IP address

Intermittent garbage flight identifiers for traffic with MSFS 2020 and ForeFlight

I've noticed that sometimes live air traffic from MSFS 2020 gets displayed in ForeFlight with a bunch of garbage characters in place of the tail number or callsign:

This may be some kind of string encoding or transfer problem. I'll do some debugging and see if I can reproduce it. :)

Connection problem at college wifi.

Does this app utilizes the 49002 port? I tried flightevents, it worked but it's very slow so I really want to get fs2ff working. It worked on my mobile hotspot network. But with my college wifi, it does not show up on foreflight. I have entered my iPad's IP address in fs2ff but it does not showup whatsoever. I am scratching my head and very sad :(. I am guessing that the 49002 port is blocked by my school and even using VPN does not work. However, not sure why flightevent works. xmapsy did not work either. Any clue? Thanks

Hi,

Fs2ff was working before I started using the beta. I don't know if that's it but I've checked everything. Firewall, Local Settings, etc. and the device will not show up. Fs2ff shows it's connected but I never see the device on foreflight. New SDK?

I simply do not know what to do with this as there is no installer. Please assist. If you need to charge a fee for an installer let me know. I'm an older guy, not overly computer literate who would like to use your utility to connect MSFS2020 with ForeFlight. Thank you for any consideration.

MSFS2020 / Enroute Android - not all traffic will be seen

fs2ff connects to Enroute without any issues and shows a lot of traffic on the ground but only some traffic in the air.
Any ideas what's going wrong?

app wont open

im on mfs2020 and the app wont open when i click on it.

App not launching after windows shutdown and restart.

So it worked yesterday as I thought it was a network issue and I uninstalled and reinstalled fs2ff. Today I attempted to launch fs2ff and the same thing was happening as before, nothing opened and nothing showing running in task manager.
I then deleted the app then reinstalled it. The app launched and worked for the FS2020 flight. I completed my flight and exited Fs2020 and closed fs2ff and shut down the computer. Upon computer startup, loaded the app, nothing happened.
I was able to delete and reinstall the app a few times to get it to work but now when I delete and reinstall, nothing happens

I have downloaded this version and when I launch the app, I get the windows firewall message and i select to allow and then nothing happens. I try launching the app again and nothing opens up. I don’t see it running in task manager. I have the latest version of Windows 10 all up to date. i9 9900k, 32gb memory, NVIDIA 2070 super, custom built just for fs2020.
Any Ideas?

Traffic In FltPlanGo

Hello,

I was able to get the program connected by using the X-Plane setting in FltPlanGo. However, I believe to see traffic in FltPlanGo it needs to be sent as ADS-B data. Is there anyway to configure this to work to show traffic in FltPlanGo?

Would this work over the internet to a remote Foreflight?

I'm wondering if this app would be able to transmit the ForeFlight data to a remote participant, who is connected over the internet? (think virtual flight lesson, where the instructor is connected with his iPad at his home to your local FS2020 session at your home)

Would in such case ForeFlight detect FS2FF under the "Devices" tab?

Which port would he need to open in his firewall/router to receive the data?

Aircraft lagging 10 -20 seconds behind in SkyDemon

not sure what has changed, PC has done many updates as has MSFS2020... but there is now around a 20sec lag between the sim aircraft and the displayed position in SkyDemon on my PC.

Could there be a message rate displayed for both the sim messages and the outbound broadcast?

any ideas?

Does the app broadcast tail number along with the position and altitude information? When I receive traffic with FlyQ EFB, everything works except none of the targets show tail numbers. In real life, FlyQ does show tail number when flying with a Stratux.

I run FS2020 (FS) and Skydemon (SD) on my little LAN. Link is established without a problem. BUT:
when I choose to see other traffic, my aircraft is shown as traffic as well. So SD is continously alerting about traffic in 5 'o clock same altitude. Is there any parameter or other chance to avoid seeing my aircraft as traffic?

Incorrect Altitude with MSFS SU5

With the latest changes in Microsoft Flight Sim and the way they (more accurately) report altitude now, it appears that the altitude reported in the sim does not align with the altitude being reported to ForeFlight via fs2ff.

I believe this post, by the developer that create vPilot (for VATSIM and PilotEdge) has a good overall description of the issue:

Hoping that a change can be made in fs2ff for MSFS that will be able to correct for this issue.

Simulator ending unexpectedly

Every time I fly for few minutes the sim crashes and stops working.
The message says:

Your last session of Microsoft Flight Simulator ended unexpectedly.
This may be due to installed 3rd party content, out of date content, or incompatible drivers.
If the problem persists, try updating out of date content or incompatible drivers.

How do I remove fs2ff?

Add support for building in vscode

Since this is a .NET Core app it's supported by VSCode. It'd be nice to have the necessary files to make that work as part of the repo.

Old version worked once

I downloaded the old version a few days ago and worked one time. Upon other attempts it says connected but doesn’t show up under device list on FF. Does new version overwrite old version?

fs2ff.exe No Longer Opens

I cannot get the app to start anymore. It worked fine until this morning. I have uninstalled, downloaded again and tried it again. I get the warning about being harmful to my computer, but it still won't run. I had used it several times in the last month or so after renewing my Foreflight again. Is there a log file I can look at?

Unable to Connect to Flight Simulator

I'm guessing this is an easy one, so pardon the dumb question. Why do I get this when I try to connect?

Configuration:

• FS2020
• fs2ff v.01.1.13

I think firewall settings are correct. I've whitelisted fs2ff.

Thoughts?

App crashing right after opening with FS2020 v1.9.5.0

Thanks for this app, it was working great for me before the patch today of Flight Simulator 2020 v1.9.5.0.

After opening the app, after about 2 seconds the app exits.

Great work

I would like to link up SkyDeamon to my Macbook. I am running MSFS2020. fs2ff works perfect on my PC, but having it on the laptop next to the PC would be great. I tried to enter the IP to my Mac in the setup, but i was not able to connect.

Bad connection AirMate

Im using fs2ff with FS2020 and AirMate ios App for a month. before 2 or 3 days it was so smooth and airplane position was updated very soon. Since a couple of days without any changes on my setup Im facing very slow data updated to the soft.

Garmin Pilot issues

I'm hoping that some people here can also contact [email protected] with the below issues and maybe Garmin might look at them:

1. AHRS lags 2-3 seconds behind actual attitude (XATT).
2. Traffic vanishes from radar every 10-30 seconds. Radar void of traffic for 2-3 seconds before traffic is drawn again. only seems happens when plane is moving. (XTRAFFIC with XGPS issue).
3. No XTRAFFIC support for android devices (only works on iPad).
4. Add support for FIS-B weather information for the Sim connection example:
   "XFISB1,METAR,KSEA,202253Z,120,05,10,SCT025,BKN230,09,03,3052"

I'm sure whishful thinking on my part but one can dream.

MSFS + Foreflight + Vatsim

I recently updated to the latest version, am no longer seeing VATSIM traffic when on their network on my Foreflight app. I know Foreflight recently had an update too, is there something I am missing that needs to be switched on to see traffic in my area? I verified the settings in FS2FF are all checked on.
