as List throws error for optional types

for a optional type in candid.

country : ?Text;

the generated dart code is

 print((json['country'] as List).map((e) {
      return e;
    }).firstOrNull);

which throws error "type 'Null' is not a subtype of type 'List' in type cast"

it can be

 print((json['country'] as List?)?.map((e) {
      return e;
    }).firstOrNull);
