`toBe` is renamed with advanced compilation

I noticed this comment in the README:

The issue with this one is that it seems that the google closure compiler is renaming .toBe to h, so I had to manually change this, but in truth, I doubt anyone is going to need to run this in advanced mode and just knowing this can work and the time savings are available to us is fine for now.

Have you discovered the :externs compiler option since you wrote that? You can specify the shape of external APIs and prevent the advanced compiler from renaming those external symbols. You'll end up adding explicit externs in your deps (or build deps):

  :externs ["jest-externs.js"]

and a JavaScript file that declares the names and types of external data without any of the implantation details. I'm new to this too, but I think this would be enough:

function expect(received) {
  return {
    toBe: function (actual) {}
  }
}

Hello @athomasoriginal! Thank you for the great example.
Have you decided to stop this initiative? If yes, any worrying reason for that?
I am thinking about using Jest to run component reagent tests with help of @testing-library in my project however I am new to the ClojureScript ecosystem and I am not sure is it a great idea to do that.
