Text editor implemented with Python, Kivy and Pygments.

AzaharTEA

AzaharTEA is a text editor with highlighting. The name is just a play with Azahar Text Editor (T.E, tea pronounced faster).

Prerequisites

To run the text editor you will need.

• Python - Version 3.5
• Kivy - Version 1.9.1
• Pygments - Version 2.2.0

Features

Because the text editor is not a very complete one, here is a list of the features:

• Text highlighting
• Loading and saving files
• Change the style of the text
• Line numbers display

Suported languages for highlighting

All the lexers included in Pygments are supported. The files with .kv extension are highlighted with the kivy lexer.

Running the program

Execute azaharTEA.py in the root directory.

./azaharTEA.py

Editor doesn't have a scrollbar

The editor navigation with arrows and the mouse's middle button works, but it needs a scrollbar for faster
navigation.

Adjust footer menu button for text.

The width of the footer menu (highlight menu, for example) doesn't auto adjust when the text is long.

Fix mouse event (right click) on editor

Mouse event's don't seem to work, there's not a default right click menu either.

Add tracking for saved files.

The files can be saved, but they are not tracked. This means that the tab and the actual file
are independent. Something to tell the user "file changed save" (generally an asterisk: * ) and to store the path of the file to save to the same file from the application should be implemented.

Don't display footer information if there are no tabs.

The footer information is displayed even when there are no open tabs, it shouldn't.

#6 Change footer information when new tab is opened.

Have to change the footer information to display the current_tab information. Also take into account the
the same issue for when loading of files is possible.

Add search functionality to the available lexers (highlighters)

The quantity of available lexers is large. It would be good to add a search or filter functionality to
the list of lexers from the footer.

Size of the tab header

The 'tabheader' doesn't auto adjust when the name of the file is too long.
