...the mod still seems to work but I found this when going through the startup sequence's logs.

NPC and various fixes for Unstable

Hi, I'm new to github (so I don't really know how to go about this) but I've been playing Starbound for a while and I've done unpublished personal modifications. Some of the most recent changes to the Pleased Giraffe unstable version of the game were making it crash with the Avali mod running so I decided to try some fixes of my own. The majority of what was preventing the game from even launching with the mod appears to be related to changes to npcs and objects used on the initial ship map. Here's what I've done so far:

  1. Updating the .npctype patches for friendlyguard, merchant, villager, and villageguard
  2. Creating a merchantpools.config.patch for avali item lists on the merchant.npctype
  3. Creating patches for npc dialog, specifically to the converse, flee, guard, and merchant .configs
  4. Updating starting objects on the ship, namely avalishipdoorbroken, avalishiplockertier0, avaliteleportertier0, and brokenavalifuelhatch

It occurred to me that I should at least post that I'm doing this here since I figure I might see if anyone else is writing these fixes already. In testing so far the log no longer throws errors for these specific things I've fixed, and I've been able to connect to a localhost server and have gotten as far as the steel armor quest. This quest is broken because the avali items do not have the latest quest tags to be recognized by the quest but I believe I can fix this too (I only found this problem a few minutes ago). Aside from that I haven't ran into any other bugs that I think are connected to the avali mod yet, but I will say that there are bugs in the Outpost about "npcToyIsAvailable" actions and the health of all the npcs mysteriously falling a bit more every time I travel to that map. I will probably look through the other avali ship items to make sure that they aren't going to cause errors, but I was able to fix the ship the first time (the core fragments upgrade) and didn't encounter any immediate crashes or errors in the log file.

Personally I'm going to keep working on this because I want to, but I'm very willing to share these fixes and if I'm capable I could probably assist with others. Again, I'm not sure how github works yet so I am sorry if this is in the wrong place or not the right format, I'll figure it out eventually.

Sniper primary fire error

Error: could not load image asset 'animations/snipermuzzle/snipermuzzle.png: (insert x.x number here) Been doing this for MULTIPLE updates...any clue what's up? I down load the files and everything correctly...its just giving me that error when I fire the primary fire

My friend has a glitched ship!

hi, my friend has a tier three ship with the avali, and he has the research station, something that should ONLY appear at tier 5, I have a tier 4 ship and I don't have the station yet...here are some pics, first is a pic of his, second is one of mine

Armor Q&A w/ regards to Vanilla Progression

So I'm gonna throw this out here...we've got Avali tier progression kinda setup in the old sense currently, i.e. tier 1-10 as opposed to tier 1-4, then branching off to the different tables the way CF does it.

Question really is: keep it as is? -OR- streamline it to something more Vanilla like?

Merchant Prices

The prices of some items in the merchant are 0, and that causes the game to not let you buy them, i have made a small patch for me and my friend fixing a lot of them, but i was afraid to attempt the guns, melee, and armor, due to balancing.

Issues with Avali armour quests

While I'm able to craft and equip myself a full set of steel inlay armour plates, the NPC in the colony doesn't seem able to recognise it as the needed armour

Produce Drop Rates

Avali produce drop rate is very low. I managed to only get one frond from 6 piru colonies. A slight adjustment to the patch file might be needed.

universe_server.config.patch, should call avali not avain.

I noticed well inspecting the "Avali Frigate" ship posted by Ancev Caine.

Really this is just for the sake of clean file structure and naming, also the ship files them selves would also then need renamed.

This does not effect the mod in anyway and should be considered a "when we have the time type bug"

Tier0 object files not loading

Whenever I try and load the game with this mod, it says that the t0 ship objects can't be loaded. I removed them and it loaded fine, but the game crashes when trying to play a new character.

Crash on Opening Storages

The game crashes to the main menu when attempting to open High Tech Drawers, High Tech Cupboards. Refrigeration Cabinets, Information Terminals, and Hanging Storage. Avali Chests, Avali Footlockers, Cargo Containers, and Cargo Crates work normally.

Hey!! Just installed the newest update and received this error with a crash at launch:

Starbound crashing on startup

The Avali mod keeps crashing on startup and if it's supposed to be updated, why does it keep crashing?? I have the ODB2 character creator mod and it works fine, but the Avali mod keeps making it crash...help!!

Avali mini-chests spawning treasure

I've noticed when you place the tiny two-block chests they seem to always spawn an avali data chit in them. Made by the player or already in-world chests that are picked up and placed again. This seems like a very 'cheaty' way to get a ton of the chits without searching for them.

Bug with Non-Avali tenant spawn

With this mod installed, trying to get a Tier 5A Guard tenant results in a Tier 4 Guard instead.
I've tested with a few others, so far I haven't managed to reproduce this with anything other than the Tier 5A (other Tier 5 guards spawn fine).

Mod Crashes Upon Startup

Ship upgrade crash/messup

Occasionally when I upgrade my ship it seems to 'crash' and become unusable and randomly reassembled. Is there a specific reason for this that anyone has found?

So far I've been told it's because of objects around the ship or from playing multiplayer, but it's happened at least once or twice in single player. Currently it's very rare in the latest updates, but I've had to keep a keep-safe copy of my saves between ship upgrades.

Tiered armor does not count for main quests

When asked to make a set of steel, titanium, etc. for the missions, the game doesn't recognize the Avali equivalents. Looking through the vanilla files, it seems "questTags" has changed to "itemTags"

so, for example:
"questTags" : [ "tier5armor" ],

needs to be:
"itemTags" : [ "tier5armor" ],

Mod isn't recognized

As it says in the title, the game doesn't recognize the mod at all. Doesn't even load it, from what I read in the log. I did install everything correctly, even checked .patch files to see if something was missing for some reason. (I was using other mods too, and most [apart from one, which is the same case as this] were working fine, but uninstalled them in the troubleshooting process.)

Sorry to bother, but I really have no idea why this is happening.

Animation file crash

Struck monster with sword, game CTD'd. Log points to error in /animation/aerotech/bloodspurt.animation.
Inspecting other animation files shows that all are formatted identically, meaning that it's likely that all (or most, at least) animation files will produce a similar crash.

Currently investigating.
