How do I have buildspecs in subdirectories?

I have a mono-repo with multiple projects in it. I want to put the buildspec for each inside their top-level directory, and not at the root of the entire repo.

I can't find a way to make that work, as putting a path before the name of the buildspec file fails.

Can you show me a way to do this?

Conditional statements in buildspec.yml

Would somebody be able to provide an example on how to use Conditional statements such as "if else statements" in a buildspec.yml.

We have 5 lambdas to deploy and each lambda code is in 5 different folders under same branch/repository in aws codecommit. Is there any way to deploy the lambda whichever is changed through SAM Template using buildspec.yml file. Any suggestions in this regard are highly appreciated and thanks too in advance.
