@AschHarwood -- we are working on a fix. The default CUDA toolkit version is 'cuda-10.1'. It has a soft link to '/usr/local/cuda '. This is incompatible with some of the default Conda environments. This is the known issue with cuda 10.1 and nvcc version release 10.1, V10.1.243, please find the below stack overflow link for the same issue.
You can workaround the issue by changing the the cuda soft link to cuda-10.2 and rerun the script.
