Suggestions for Devil Rework

I am probably the only really dedicated Devil Player out there ._. and I thought I could give my thoughts about it and how it could be improved. I am going to identify the problems I see with the path followed by suggestions or possible ways to make the path a bit better.

The problems:

  1. SU instead of spellbook. - This is propably the biggest one. The Devil stops progressing the Mythic Spellbook of the Azata and Aeon, right before they get their really good stuff. (Perfect Form, Black Hole, Heroes Never Surrender, Songs of Steel etc) This leaves a massive power vacuum that the (spammable) SUs try to compensate. They have a hard time doing that however, since they are very hard to scale in effectivness. No Metamagic can be applied to them; nor do they benefit from SpellSchool increasing DC Gear, nor Spellfocus talents etc.
  2. Shoehorned into a role. - The SUs - especially HFR - kinda shoehorns Devil Characters into a certain niche. Any kind of character that doesn't want to spend its main action shooting HFRs at enemies is kind of not getting anything out of the the respective Mythic Rank-Up. The other SUs are even worse - since even dedicated controllers won't be spamming those SUs since their DCs are terrible (And the "power word" line of spells is just kinda junky in general). And non-dedicated Controllers will never use those SUs because they have either better stuff to do and don't want to waste their turn on doing something that is likely to fail anyhow.

Thoughts:

  1. I think it would be cool if the Devil would not receive its lackluster SUs but instead progress their Mythic spellbook. However with different spells then Aeon/Azata. To keep this to the theme the Devil (especially in this mod) already has - of cribbing powers from Angel and Demon - I would suggest to fill up the rank 6 and 7 spellslots with Angel/Demon Mythic spells that seem fitting.
    1.1 I would avoid putting the strongest spells of Demon/Angel into this spellbook (Abyssal Storm, Storm of Justice, Fortress of the Faithful etc) - but utelize rather the less used one, like Telekinetic Burst/Devour or Avengers Blessing/Sun Marked/Sun Form to give Devil its own identity.

  2. Seals and Decrees seem fine - at least those that are not ment to target enemy saves. Maybe put the couple decrees that affect enemies as spells into the Mythic Spellbook mentioned above? But I do like the ones we have right now for the most part, even though they are not terribly strong.

I have an request about Hell Knight Signifer

I was hoping you could fix a glaring oversight in the prestige class,
Catechesis (Ex)
If a Hell Knight signifer has the Warrior Priest feat, his Hell Knight signifer level stacks with other divine spellcasting classes for determining the effects of those classes’ domain powers, inquisitions, and mysteries. This doesn’t grant any new powers or abilities. In addition, a signifer with the Warrior Priest feat gains Alignment Channel (chaos) as a bonus feat, and treats his Hell Knight signifer levels as cleric levels when determining the amount of damage chaotic outsiders are either healed or dealt, and when determining their saving throw DCs to halve this damage.

honestly making it so that it just continues to scale up domains, inquisitions, and mysteries would be enough for me, but no one seems to have even thought about prestige classes much.

Feature Request in regards to devils HFR SU

Currently the only thing the SU got going for it over a "normal" HFR is that it can be spammed. Lategame casting/rest economy is pretty heavily skewed towards alphastrikes, hard damage and not really worringy about resources.

This leaves the devils SU HFR in a bit of a weird spot, since it can't be modified by metamagic or anything like it.

It would be cool if the SU HFR would do anything neat over a normal HFR. Maybe it can be casted as a move-action? Or maybe it get's more powerful the more you kill with it or something like that.

UI Bugs in the MythicPath Tab

The Aeon abilities at m8 in the new Devil also show up in an Azata->Devil character. (Perpetual Gaze etc)

The Ability "Authority of Hell" (allows use of DemonRage and AngelSword) is present at both m8 and m10.
