bahai-quotes's Issues

Split quotes into different files

While the "source" of a quote is the original text it appears in, there are many ways a quote might find its way into this collection. For example, an individual might add a miscellaneous quote they like, or a developer might scrape a particular website. We would like for users to be able to choose which one(s) they use for their applications; therefore, I'm planning on splitting up the big json file into smaller ones based on the source of the quotes. Later, we'll provide scripts for combining them and writing to different formats.

Representing quote selections as references to a complete work of originals

Hey there,

Looks like a very worthwhile project!

In looking toward the longer term, however, I might suggest something that I've considered ought to be done for any wholesale replacement to https://bahai9.com too (a site which, incidentally, you might want to consider for quotes, since it is arranged by topic): namely to have the full texts be encoded in a single separate repository with quotation collections referencing the originals in some kind of "stand-off" manner without duplicating the text--i.e., referencing a range, ideally in a canonical-ish/reliably parseable fashion (e.g., ESW-pars:3-5).

Besides saving some file size, this might help stale text if there is subsequent proofreading which corrects a given text (unless the error is in the parsing of paragraphs/verses, etc. itself).

I've made an effort in this direction (regarding the canonical specification) at https://github.com/brettz9/bahai-writings-handler though I haven't revisited for quite a while...

And as far as the hosting of original texts, pending any comprehensive authoritative effort, I've started one at https://bitbucket.org/brettz9/bahaiwritings (used in the TextBrowser project).
