Hi there my name is Richard Benjamin Allen, but online I generally go by Ben👋

I am a software engineer at the Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford, with over 10 years experience with programming and scientific research. Since 2018 I have also been the Executive Director and principal consultant for the first lean Oxford University Spinout Company PalaeoPi Ltd. Principal consultant meaning I am the one developing our core technology and providing consultancy to clients on behalf of the company.

Update Python to 3.8

Pipenv no longer supports Python 3.6 so we should update the Python version to at least 3.8.

Get serial working on Windows

elif sys.platform == "win32": return "COM3"

The above code was a quick fix to get Windows working. In reality it may require a more automated approach.
