據說編程隨想還是被警察通過百度查找豆瓣上的帳號，自己供認是某公司高管，才被警察逮捕的，這一件事揭露了專有軟件對個人隱私的不可逆的破壞，可見保留在專有軟件和不自由的網絡服務以及SaaSS上的專有軟件賬戶多麼危險。儘早註銷專有軟件帳號，儘早脫離苦海。

更何況編程隨想自己早已供認，自己使用虛擬機，而虛擬機則是專有軟件和自由軟件的一個模糊的“中立”地帶，本質上是打著虛擬機的幌子使用X Windows、Mac OS和Android等專有軟件，而使用任何專有軟件都有風險。 Wine、AppImage、Flatpak等軟件也包含不自由的軟件，也能起到部分類似“虛擬機”的效果，編程隨想使用GNU/Linux並之後用虛擬機運行X Windows的行為是危險的。

編程隨想雖然被抓，但他的很多做法和建議是非常有價值的！在中國大陸，電子痕跡相當危險，如果沒有較爲可靠的匿名上網手段，最好還是不要什麽都説。千萬不要認爲你說的話是正確的就不會被抓，恰恰相反，你說的話越正確，越容易被抓，因爲**當局就是怕有人會思考、會質疑、會醒悟！！！
