imagetoolbar's Issues

Rewrite Image Toolbar with WebExtensions APIs

Mozilla have announced plans to phase out all non-WebExtension add-ons by the end of 2017. While I consider this decision to be utterly insane (and half expect them to end up extending that deadline, if they have any users left to appease at that point), it's safe to assume that this add-on will have to be rewritten or will cease to exist at the end of 2017 or shortly after.

I do not yet know if all the functionality will be possible to implement with the new WebExtensions APIs. I know for sure that (at least) the following will work:

  • General toolbar concepts (where/when it is shown, icon size, text labels, etc) - this will just be done in HTML instead of XUL (which is probably better anyway).
  • Downloading a file.
  • Copying the image URL to the clipboard
  • Print / print preview

At-risk functionality (don't know if APIs are present or ever will be):

  • Image info popup (unless I reimplement it separately to the Firefox UI functionality)
  • Choose folder

Current blockers in the WebExtensions API:

Potentially relevant:

Double Text labels, when none should be shown

Lately, after I have set things to show no text labels, there are a few places/websites where it not only show the text labels, but stacks them! It make it very odd, as it takes up a lot of real-estate on the image. Have a look:

doesn't work anymore sonce FF 34

Hello,
i like this add on but since i've migrated to firefox v34, images in most of the website are no more loaded.... for exemple even the "google" logo on their webpage is no more seen.... after disable the add on, all the image are correctly loaded and seen... Is there a tip or something ? i saw many others users got this issue too.

thanks you

New feauture: Image Search

Hi! Thanks for the great addon!

Is there an option to add a button for Image Reverse Search (Google, Bing, TinEye, Karma Decay and IqDB)?

I know, there is an addon like ImageLookup, but this addon has only Google and TinEye and I think the search-option would be better placed in ImageToolbar.

Sometimes wrong filenames and extensions with Firefox 45.0

Hello!

First of all I'd like to thank you for creating this addon! I really really love it!
Since I updated to Firefox 45.0, sometimes pictures are saved with wrong names and extensions, for example "file.htm" or "file.php". This happens mostly on forums, but also on quite normal pages. But when I right-click on the picture and choose "Save as..." it will be saved with the correct name and extension.

Here are two example links where imagetoolbar isn't working properly:

https://forum.digitalfernsehen.de/proxy.php?image=https%3A%2F%2Fscontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net%2Fhphotos-xtl1%2Fv%2Ft1.0-9%2F12795573_1056705581058127_7585259572724974478_n.png%3Foh%3Df82c17e5ea3849c6b088c842d27fd023%26oe%3D578C46F7&hash=b7447390a57727a6a7c2338f58bcbc78

I hope this helps you to find out what's wrong. Thanks in advance for your effort.

Best wishes from Austria,
Ed

Request: update to more modern codebase (restartless, SDK)

This is a nice addon, but restartful addons are a thing of the past. Using the SDK and otherwise generally following Mozilla's plans for addons makes them easier to maintain for devs and gives users a better experience. I'm personally also sceptical about the performance and stability and such of addons that use their own code for everything instead of using the SDK and whatnot.

New feature: Close tab after save

Hi there, great job! Im wondering is there is any chance to add one option to close the tab after saving one image.

Thanks a lot.-

Image Toolbar

This amazingly useful tool was disabled by Firefox Quantum. I am extremely annoyed because I found it very useful
Have you any idea if or when the programme would be updated to work with quantum? Many thanks,

Suggestion: Allow Image Toolbar to Rename Saved Files

I think the addon should be able to rename files...specifically in a sequential manner. There are some sites that, annoyingly, don't have sequential images named sequentially (they will usually be random). So if you save them all to a folder you end up with a big mess. If Image Toolbar could rename those images this would not happen. You could even add an icon to manually reset the number counter to the toolbar.

Two buttons for download

This Add On is great as it is now.

To make it still more useful, I suggest:
One button to automatically save the image to the default folder and...
another button to prompt for a location and filename.

Thank you

Waterfox support

Now that many extensions stopped working in Firefox, many users started to use Waterfox.

Please make imagetoolbar to work with Waterfox.

Thanks

Does not work with firefox beta 43.0 upwards

Hi Ben

I absolutely love imagetoolbar! Unfortunately it does not work with firefox beta 43.0 upwards. Instead what happens is it actually ends up completely blocking out all images in firefox.

The last version imagetoolbar works with is firefox 42.0b9.

doesn't quite work in Firefox Nightly (64b)

This add-on worked great on most sites, but recently I made the switch to the 64b version of Firefox (Nightly 34.0a1 (2014-08-25)), and the extension has an adverse effect on all pages with images and galleries. Firefox will load the page elements like borders, menus and backgrounds, but if the page has thumbs. Oddly enough having this extension on... blocks the thumbs from loading. Technically they are still there because when the mouse hovers over the spot where the image should be, the pop-up address shows correctly as well as using, "view page source" to view page elements, the images are there, but they don't show as if they are hidden behind the background. So I first disabled all add-on then turned each one on and off til the images reappeared. Leaving this add-on on, thumbs are missing. Turning it off, everything comes back. odd eh? I've even tried surfing to an image linked directly. The address shows correctly as is the image in the, "view page source", box, but on the page... nothing as if it was blocked. Til this is fixed or resolved, I'll simply turn off the add-on.

Image Toolbar don't work with "chefkoch.de"

Hello Ben,

if you want to print a cooking recipe from the site "chefkoch.de" and the firefox add-on "imagetool" is activated, the recipe was print without pictures. If you deactivate the add-on the printing works fine.

I hope you unterstand my bad english

Sincerly

Suggestion : an addon like imagetoolbar but for all links

Hi,

imagetoolbar is a really great addon, thank you a lot!

I've been looking for an addon that would behave just like imagetoolbar (save function) but for all links:
on link hovering, display a little button (or bar if you want to put several buttons) that opens the "save as" dialog.

If someone knows an addon that does it, let me know.

I know here is not exactly the good place to make this suggestion but i couldn't find a better since it's really imagetoolbar that inspired me.

Displayed buttons do not match config

This is a problem I've been having for months in an up-to-date Firefox.

Config: http://i.imgur.com/WnLdDaS.png
Actual result: http://i.imgur.com/iozYkXT.png

Link for reference: http://cheezburger.com/8489879040/funny-memes-you-really-think-i-want-be-here

At random times (and rather often), the buttons displayed on the toolbar aren't even close to what's configured. It happens on just about any website, I don't see any kind of pattern or obvious cause. The cases where the bar works 100% as expected are really rare. A reinstall did not help.

Win 8.1, always latest stable FF

Stopes working randomly on Firefox 56.0.2 until Reinstalled

It was working fine until a week ago, then I updated to Windows 10 Pro 1803 and it stoped working right after that, along with another addon I use alot, Copyfish, and other things.

I reformated the PC back to Windows 10 Pro x64 1709 (PT-BR) and:

  • reinstalled Firefox 56.0.2 x64 (PT-BR)
  • installed regular Windows Updates
  • Windows Defender is Up and running
  • and also installed these other Extensions: Copyfish, Ublock Origin, New Tab Homepage

and now, with this basic setup, sometimes both ImageToolbar and Copyfish will stop working. The only function that will stop workin on ImageToolbar is the [Save] button, the other buttons still work, and Copyfish will stop all together.

After that, if i Uninstall and Reinstall ImageToolbar, both will start working again.

I'm still trying to isolate the problem.

Please, if you can take a look at this, for many of us this addon is still like the Wolverine, the Best at what it does ^^.

Thank you for your time.

Compatibility issues with Pale Moon

I'm using Pale Moon x64, which is based on Firefox. Since their latest version (25.2.0) images called from img tags are not rendered, when Image Toolbar 0.6.14 is installed. The add-on worked fine with Pale Moon 25.1.0. Newer versions of the add-on are not installable (incompatible "Firefox" version).

Pale Moon's main dev pointed me to these changes as the possible cause / solution. Is there anything you could do to fix the incompatibility? I've been happily using your add-on for some years.

Icon to view image

This is available from the regular FF context menu as "View Image". It would be great to have an icon for it since oftentimes images are scaled to fit a layout even though they are actually larger.

Thank you so much for this addon. It's a great time saver.

Waterfox

Hi,
I just switched from Firefox to Waterfox to keep my favorite addons, but imagetoolbar isn't working.
Installation works, the icons appear over images, but clicking the save button has no effect

Add tooltips to buttons

Once #4 has been resolved, it should be trivial to add tooltips to the buttons via the HTML title attribute.

New version?

Hi,

New firefox version requires update to this add-on...can we expect one and when?
