👋 Hi, I’m Ben

I'm a software developer and the creator of StreamCam and Loopify¹.

I care a lot about UX, and so I try to not only make things that solve problems, but solve problems in an ergonomic way. Neither of my apps have a completely unique functionality, but they do try present their interface in a way that the user will hopefully enjoy.

In the past I've 🔈 designed guitar amplifiers, 👨🏻‍🏫 taught physics, ✍🏻 marked and authored physics exams internationally, ⛪️ pastored a church and 🎧 hosted, produced and edited a podcast.

Script fails if directories are not present

Check for existence of Application Support/XML directories and create one if it's not there.

Lack of empty media folder in Motion template may cause issues if not using the installer

Github doesn't allow empty directories to exist.

It may be that manually placing the Motion Templates/localized directory (/source code/Motion Templates.localized/Titles.localized/Lyrics/2 Lines) in ~/Movies will fail to cause it to appear in Final Cut Pro X because it expects to see a Media directory there even if it's empty.

This is not an issue when using the installer, as this is compiled locally and sent to GitHub as a package.

Limited scope for customisation

Add published parameters for common customisations in Motion template

Add support for Final Cut Pro Trial

Add in an error handler to look for Final Cut Pro Trial if the script fails to open Final Cut Pro.

Special characters are rejected by the script

When executing on a text block with special characters, the script fails. More details needed.

Special character replacement is janky

Consider wrapping into a single function and running as a steriliser on unprocessed input text.
