Instead of making the text pages old timey, I made them look like a console/terminal, which I would argue counts as being a visibly appealing color scheme, as we are computer scientists and spend lots of time in the terminal.
I chose to use green text over the white as it appears more retro.
I also used both Courier AND Lucida, as Lucida looks better as body text, while still capturing the terminal feeling.
The only changes I made to the HTML pages was commenting out the included style and referencing my book.css stylesheet.
It looks nice with a 1920x1080 aspect ratio, can't really comment on sizes other than that
