Jump & Puke - for iPad

"Jump & Puke" is a game for iPad that was designed in 48 hours during Global Game Jam'12.

Introduction

Escape! Jump! Puke!

You've been eaten by a snake, escape! Your size will decrease with time as the snake is digesting you. You can get bigger by eating stuff and you can decrease again if you puke!

Hurray! You escaped! Unfortunately, the snake is eating his tail, you have to start again. Now, when you need to eat something to get bigger, you have to eat what you puked last time!

Change bonus sound

The bonus sound is rather similar to the malus sound. They should probably be more different with each other.

Adjust jump parameters

The current jump parameters are funny but could be adjusted for increased playability.

I18n

All the app is in english. Except the Credits screen which is in french. We should probably go for an all english app.

But I would also like an All french app for my mother ;)

Change the font

All the app is hand drawn, except the texts related to the level and the score. We could probably use our own hand drawn font, or a font cooler than arial ;)

Fix le saut du son en scène d'intro

La classe de gestion du son est instanciée, dans son init() on précharge les sons… puis en scène d'intro on re-précharge les sons (wtf?) puis au moment de jouer les sons, on est dans une autre fonction alors on ré-instancie un nouvel audioManager, on re-précharge donc les sons…

Bref, c'est n'importe quoi.

Sons manquants parfois

J’ai l’impression parfois qu’aucun son n’est joué lors du rebond ou du mangeage d’un item…

test other inputs

The character progress only by jumping. We could try to pilot it with the gyroscope. Or with gestures.
What about haptic feedbacks ?

Game center integration

The main goal of this game is scoring (the second goal is perhaps unclear but is related to the strategy of the bonus dropping). The score could probably be more visible in the game. One of the incentives towards scoring could be a basic game center integration for the scores (no achievement, no multiplayer game...)

Universal app

The current app only targets iPad. Since it does not use ipad features, it could also be made available on the iPhone.

Bonus/ Malus behaviors

All the bonus give the same result : they increase the size of the elephant and thus hinder its maneuverability. We planned to introduce variable behaviors. For example certain bonus could modify the torque or add a force, or...
When hitting a malus, we could probably make the character flash for 1 or 2s in order to show that it was a bad thing.

Modify Map

Once the physics parameters are frozen, we need to adjust the map to add difficult paths and fun places.

Bile pools

We have the sprite and the sound for bile pools but we had not the time to implement them I think.
