rapid-response-team's Issues

Define the team

  • Draft team charter (why, how, what)
  • Identify internal team member (Kayla)
  • Hire intern

Capture template tips in wiki

Instead of capturing in Word, let's capture the tips that come out of Teams discussions in the wiki instead. Maybe start a "tips" section on the Templates page. Or something else if that makes sense.

Start a content repository

Some content types to consider:

  • offices
  • bios
  • blog posts
  • photos (see USDA and others on Flickr)
  • faq
  • search results
  • news
  • podcasts and videos (embeds, for track list template)
  • services
  • account info (users)
  • tweets

Make contributions to public repos as approrpriate

Good first steps:

  • Make suggestions or improvements to open-source project documentation or content.
  • Open new issues for bugs or enhancements.
  • Fix simple bugs that are tagged as good first issue (or something similar).

Shaping: navigation test drive

Validate idea from discussion #58

General idea: Let's set up a product page that looks like a legit SaaS product, not related to something we're doing. This way we can send the link to some UXers and content people and see what their actual feedback is.

How we can do it:

Product page inspiration:

Test drive inspiration:

Run initial usability tests for Complaint Screener template

What we want to know:

  • Can non-developers figure it out and use this tool?
  • What problems or questions do they run into?

Who we should test:

  • Two designers who maybe have already created GH accounts but are not super familiar with the platform.
  • One aspiring developer (I have a potential candidate.)

What needs to be done for this issue:

  • Write up a basic test plan/script.
  • Schedule people and run tests.
  • Share out high-level findings (and links to recordings).

Draft outline

  • Overview of team (why, how, what from wiki home)
  • How we work (working agreement)
  • Case study: Prototyping a medical supply catalog site in 2 days
  • Case study: Creating a reusable complaint screener for government websites in less than a month
    • pitch
    • baseline research
    • iterations
    • reusability
  • Tools: USWDS page templates with Codepen, Jekyll, GitHub Pages, and Figma (Also: TryMyUI, Miro)
  • Resources and next steps (links to repos/projects, how to contribute)

Set up tooling

  • Define toolset
  • Set up paid accounts as needed (we'll see what needs look like first)
  • Set up accounts using Bixal email for tools listed in wiki
  • Philip to take care of FlowMapp
