Part of an abandoned Life Simulation Game project, which was hoped (with varying degrees of modification) could be adapted for use with other types of games such as RPGs or (in a more simplified and streamlined form) city builders.
Basically, I did some "soul searching" and realized I didn't want to spend the next decade, or even the next few years, of my life working on a Sims clone that, while possibly better to my own taste in a few specific ways would just have a lot less to and not as good over all.
The other direction I was working on this from (and having a lot more trouble with) was the build-buy mode, found here:
https://github.com/BlackJar72/CharacterEngine
I doubt I'll ever get anything out of it either way, and its likely no one will even look at it so that it will influence anything, but after all the work I did put into it I'd rather make it publically available so it might have some chance of not all going completely to waste.
This portion of the project was never going well. It was trouble with this that led to a long pause in development for half a year before starting again and getting this far. I doubt it would ever have become a good system. I doubt I'd ever have non-axis-aligned walls, a way to detect enclosed rooms without using room-create tool to make it all at once, or to have non-rectangular rooms (that would be recognized as one room by game logic).
To cover my proverbial "butt" in case of the off-chance someone actually decides to do something with it and then claims some harm came from it, I am not simply posting the source code (i.e., making the repository public) but placing under a real license, though a very permisive open-source license. Specifically this is under the MIT license.
