Planning grant text changes - from online review

Question 1.1 – spell out “semi-colon” and put “;” in parenthesis. Alternately we could delete this instruction, it doesn’t seem necessary
Question 1.2 – 1) change instructions about how to select multiple things to “use Cntrl key on your keyboard to select multiple” 2) change “other” next to text box to “Other/innovation”
Questions 1.15 and 1.17 – change from “No, this organization is not…” to “No, this project is not…”
Question 2.5 – delete word “either” in paragraph 2

Small grants - reference to budget question/section

6.1 and 6.3 say to skip to 6.5 but it should be budget section, it does seem a little strange to have a whole new section for one question that then asks you to go to the upload section. We could have it say …skip to budget question below… or ….skip to budget question at the end of this section. Open to ideas but having it be 6.5 doesn’t work well since it is not related to workforce.

large / small question 2.2

why is this question different between the small / large applications? I think we should strive for consistency where possible.

Help text - Priority Populations

Hey @derekwmiller - We have one term, “priority population” which we think needs to be defined for everyone who reads the application (whether they scroll over the term or not). That term shows up 13 times in the large application and is dispersed throughout. This is different than the terms that we are defining for hover/pop-up definitions. Everyone needs to see it. How would you recommend handling that?

final application step -- submit

Unlike the paper applications, for the online forms you need one final action by the user -- submit this application

This is different than the 'save progress' action for each section

You'll need text to accommodate this action

question 1.9

it's 1.9 on the planning grant. sure it's in the other two grant types as well but unclear on the number right now

seems to me that you're going to get messy data the way this question is written

i would recommend start date / end date, or a number input followed by a type select (day, week, month, year)

Small grant text changes

All changes below are to Small Grant application
1.1 – spell out “semi-colon” and put “;” in parenthesis. Alternately we could delete this instruction, it doesn’t seem necessary
2.8 replace last sentence with “If you already have a written agreement with your fiscal sponsor that includes this information you can attach the agreement instead of writing the narrative description.”
3.1 – Change “Innovation” to “Other/Innovation” in check box and “If innovation,…” to “If other/innovation,…” above text box
3.4 – word count under box- add words “not including Attachment C”
5.2 change word “complete” to “answer”
Section 6 intro text - In bulleted list under 2nd primary bullet, 3rd and 5th sub-bullets change persons to people. Last bullet change persons to people

Planning grant text change

Question 2.4 text change - pasted old text below with new text that should replace it. The new part is in the bullet, couldn't figure out how to highlight in this platform. There is no change to the second bullet in this question (If No,...) so I didn't paste it in.
Old text:
Is the proposed project designed to primarily benefit any of the following PCEF priority populations: people of color, women, people with disabilities, people with low income, or people who are chronically underemployed?
• If Yes, briefly describe the specific population(s) the project is designed to benefit and continue to question 2.5. Do NOT include contractors and people employed to work on the project; they are addressed in another section. (50 to 100 words)
New text:
Is the proposed project designed to primarily benefit any of the following PCEF priority populations: people of color, women, people with disabilities, people with low income, or people who are chronically underemployed?
• If Yes, briefly describe the specific population(s) the project is designed to benefit, including an estimate of the percent of project beneficiaries that will come from that population (e.g. 75% of project benefits will go to women of color),** and continue to question 2.5. Do NOT include contractors and people employed to work on the project; they are addressed in another section. (50 to 100 words)

Testing notifications

question 1.12 - insurance

a link in a tooltip? not sure that's gonna work but i'll figure something out if it doesn't.

i need the link to the document tho

question 1.18

can't do signatures. I would recommend a 'certify' checkbox

Closing survey

Hey @derekwmiller - We want to add 2-3 questions for anonymous feedback. We want people to participate but also to trust that it is anonymous. Can this be supported in the same system or should we create the survey somewhere else and link to it? Ideas?

Small grant - attachment A not a thing to upload

3.4 – attachment A is not something you upload, it is just a list of information requirements to include in your project description and scope, no upload instruction needed. Open to ideas about how to make this more clear

need link to guide

need link to 'Guide to the PCEF Grant Application Process' for the intro text

section headings

the case of the title headings is not consistent. some are title case and others are not.

can we be consistent? which do we want to use?

question 1.14

help text is the same as the text in parens. do you need both?

section 3 missing question numbers

the first question in section 3 doesn't have a number. throws off the index btw the db and questions on all the other questions.

fixed on my side but my questions now do not share the same numbers as yours

small grant section 6

the opening statement for this section asks for a certification # but there's no question for it... it's in parens in a block of text.

thoughts?

first bullet of the second paragraph

discrepancies between applications

as a general rule, where there are minor discrepancies (same meaning... slightly different language, difference in suggested word count, etc) between the applications (same question ... different grant type) --- I've tried to be consistent.

question 2.2 small / large grant is an example. in this case, I did NOT make the questions consistent.

suggested word count on 2.3 is a case where I did make them consistent

small grants 1.6 and 1.7

Question 1.6 and 1.7 – need to change the example text that shows up (Jane Doe) brings unidentified victim to mind, maybe Jane Smith?

Small grant 1.4

Question 1.4 – don’t need days/weeks as options but fine if they stay in if its a pain to remove

Application workflow

where does the user land when they log in to the application after being pushed from the project website

Large grant - 6.15 and 6.16 structure

6.15 and 6.16 structure is off and missing final question at end. Pasted below is how they should appear and are referenced in guidance documents. May be easier to talk through let me know
6.15 Provide your commitments to employ apprentices on the proposed project. (If the project does not include apprenticeable trades, skip to section 6.16.b., below.) We understand that people may fall into more than one category; disaggregated information will be collected during project reporting,
a. ____% of total work hours that will go to apprentices (amount of work that will be completed by apprentices)
b. ____% of total apprentice hours that will go to all priority populations (how much of the apprentice work will be completed by people who are in PCEF priority populations).
i. ____% of apprentice hours that will go to people of color

  1. % of total apprentice hours that will go to women who are people of color
ii. % of apprentice hours that will go to White women
iii. % of apprentice hours that will go to other priority population(s). Please define:

6.16 Provide your commitments for journey-level/non-apprentice workers on the proposed project. We understand that people may fall into more than one category; disaggregated information will be collected during project reporting.
    a. ____% of total work hours that will go to journey/non-apprentice workers (i.e., how much of the work will be completed by workers that are not apprentices)
    b. ____% of total journey/non-apprentice hours that will go to all priority populations (i.e., how much of the apprentice work will be completed by people representing PCEF priority populations).
    i. ____% of journey/non-apprentice hours that will go to people of color
  2. % of journey/non-apprentice hours that will go to women who are people of color (subset of 6.16.a.iii above)
ii. % of journey/non-apprentice hours that will go to White women
iii. % of journey/non-apprentice hours that will go to other priority population(s). Please define:

    c. Describe how the workforce utilization estimates were generated. (200-300 words)
