That checks if mrec is <= the address of icmp6[bytes] which is well beyond the end of packet...
You'd have to say something like (void *)((char *)icmp6) + bytes) or more simply (void *)(buf_recv + bytes) since icmp6 and buf_recv have the same address due to the previous assignment.
