web's Issues

menu needs to shrink and remain up top

The intention is for the menu to shrink down to a considerably smaller size as the page is scrolled down, but remain at the top of the window view. This is similar to how the menu currently displaying at /wiki/Main_Page stays on top, but it's desirable for the menu to retain roughly the same appearance throughout the scaling.

Visual sparkle misaligned

There's a visual effect that is currently commented out because it's not getting positioned and resized correctly. It's a 3D canvas, which can be enabled by searching for and un-commenting the "tessellactation" line. It should only display under the main title text over the first dark grey div.

need to hook up mailing list subscriptions

We want to make it so visitors can sign up to our mailing lists with extreme ease, and NOT go through the sourceforge or mailman interface. There's examples for doing this online such as this one: http://szabgab.com/how-to-integrate-a-mailman-signup-with-your-web-site.html

Needs to at least sign them up to brlcad-news, but we'll need to think about how to offer folks sign-up on brlcad-users, brlcad-devel, and/or brlcad-commits without introducing that complication on the main landing page. Perhaps the brlcad-news signup response page can offer them as checkbox options.

Vertical Rhythm

The current design lacks the typographical hierarchy and vertical rhythm which would shape the website better. Currently due to lack of vertical rhythm, the website looks like a blob of text smooshed together.

To know about vertical rhythm visit http://typecast.com/blog/4-simple-steps-to-vertical-rhythm
and typography in general visit practicaltypography.com/what-is-typography.html

Responsiveness of Navigation

Navigation is responsive for the tablet screen, but below that it just hides out.

Reason: The navigation has been incorporated from another design but it's javascript part has not been.

Responsiveness of About Section Blurbs

Currently, the just shrink in height as you go to smaller screens. Ideally, they should be based on some responsive grid that breaks down cols into rows on the smaller screen.
