alytlepokergame's Issues

Program Execution Using Jar or HTML

As the program stands, the HTML needs an extra plugin to run on Edge, Firefox, and Chrome. I don't think we'll have the security privileges to install the plugin so we need to discuss that with Professor Doyle.

When I run the .jar file the game says Winner in white on a grey background (i.e. the assets aren't loading) and the game will not start a new hand. If we go this route for demonstration we'll have to come up with a lightweight installation solution. Maybe we could have the assets in the same directory as the .jar?

Project Proposal

I added the current draft of the proposal to a newly created Docs directory. I will continue to edit it from there, but the basics are all there.

Let me know what you think.

Networking the Game

The game needs a client(players) and a server(dealer).

We should probably use Java socket for TCP communication between the client and server. I have been reading sites at tutorialspoint and Ray Toal's Java Socket Examples. They seem to be pretty straightforward to set up, but we'll have to tweak the game logic.

We can listen for new players either at the start of a hand, or we can listen only at the start of a new pot. If we have time this could be separate game modes. Another thing to consider is if we want the server to be able to play the game. I think it is better to just have a dedicated server and can't play the game.
