sp17-barbot's Issues

Week 15

Final Decision on project status must be submitted to Dr. H by Monday, May 1.

TODO

  • Tune line follower sensor

  • Get robot to follow taped path

  • Finish Research Paper

  • Add performance metrics to robot code and gather data

  • Install battery for Braccio Arm

Week #11

TODO

  • Mount color sensor on robot

  • Get color coded cards/coasters

  • Tune color sensor using cards/coasters

  • Get a table and mark the robot's path using duct tape

  • Mount line follower sensor

  • Tune line follower sensor

  • Get robot to follow taped path

  • Mount arm on carriage

  • Create magazines for mint patties

  • Get arm to grab mint patties from magazine

  • Fix #8

Robot Materials Checklist

  • Color sensors

  • IR Reflectance Sensors (for line following)

  • Wood platform to put on carriage

  • Assembled arm

  • Cardboard magazine(s) for mints

  • Color coded coasters/cards

  • Mobile Power Supply for Bracchio Arm

Week 2

Ordered an Arduino Arm for the project, still hasn't come in.

Continued from #1

Week 13

TODO

  • Mount line follower sensor

  • Tune line follower sensor

  • Get robot to follow taped path

  • Make a magazine to put mints in (!!)

  • Finish presentation for student conference

Week 6

  • Work on the second draft of the proposal

    • Branden: said he'd research other such projects
    • Joseph: is writing about performance matrices, the general problem and the solution the bot provides, some of the hardware involved (namely for sensors), the functions of the bot, and the timeline of the project
    • Michael: [we've yet to agree upon his contribution to the second draft)
    • An agreement needs to be made on who will do what for this project
    • We need to nail down a timeline for when different objectives need to be accomplished
  • Get the wheeled bot navigating around via it's wheels

Rover Motors Sporadically Fail to Operate

Description:
The rover wheels will occasionally fail to operate during normal loop execution. The wheels will sporadically work several times, then fail to work for a long period of time. Resetting the system through disconnecting the power and hitting the switch fails to resume operation of the wheels. The wheels will unpredictably restart once code is re-uploaded to the Aurduino board.

Possible Causes:

  • Hardware failure to communicate due to blocking voltage
  • Incorrect Startup Sequence in software
  • Temperature variance causing pins to expand/contract
  • Code written to bad sector of memory
  • Small break in a wire

Week 4

  • Task 3
    • Get the bot to escape an enclosed area through a narrow opening using some form of intelligence (search algorithm)
  • Work on second draft of the project proposal
  • Assemble Broccio arm when it comes in (assemble tutorial here)
    • Dr H said the arms won't ship until 2/22, unfortunately
  • Get wheeled bot running at the very least
Dr H said the project should be coming to a conclusion in a month (first week or two of March)

Week 1

TODO:

  • Finish First Draft of Proposal
  • Name Project
  • Choose Language
  • Sketch Hardware Requirements
  • Cost/Feasibility Analysis
  • Meeting 1/19 Before Class
  • Create repository DONE

Week 9

Robot Materials Checklist

  • Color sensors

  • IR Reflectance Sensors (for line following)

  • Wood platform to put on carriage

  • Assembled arm

  • Cardboard magazine(s) for mints

TODO

  • Get project feedback from Dr H

  • Put sturdier platform on carriage

  • Mount arm on carriage

  • Mount sensors on robot

Week 8

Stuff We Need For The Bot

  • Color sensor (TCS3200 should work)
  • IR Reflective Sensor for line following (Pololu QTR-8RC)
  • Materials for a sturdier frame
  • An assembled Braccio arm

Things We Need To Discuss With Dr H

  • Do we provide materials for the carriage platform, or does he?
  • Where are the arms?!
  • Getting the additional sensors
  • Feedback on our project ideas

Things We Can Do

  • Put together the storage container
  • Get a design for the carriage and start putting it together
