change disk format

from a record with given ID, need:

• access parent
• access (first) child
• access previous record (causally)
• access next record

to do this, we need two files:

1. index, a fixed-size record file. Record at offset 3 * sizeof(int64) * n stores:
   • the offset of n-th record in the data file
   • the ID of first child of record with Id n
   • the ID of (causal) next record
2. data, append-only file with records storing messages, previous pointer and parent pointer (variable size)

When logging a new record, obtain next ID n (incr), create record in index with 0 as next and first-child; write content of record (with previous/parent pointers) into data; if there's a parent or predecessor update their first-child/next pointer fields in file index.
