gravitybox's Issues

New Gravity Box "Expand Notification Panel" Shortcut Issue

First of all, Great New version Update! Congratulations...

The issue are with the new Gravity Box Shortcuts (to be used by any program or Gravity box itself in lockscreen ring). The main problem is that when I set the GB Expand Notification Panel shortcut to the ring and try to use it, then when I close the notification panel the phone goes to main homescreen instead of remaining in the lockscreen.

The same issue happens with Nova Launcher shortcuts. A good example of a correct use would be the APP DropDown Statusbar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wq.dropdownstatusbar

or MyHome Button: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wq.myhomebutton

Note: Also would look much clear and perfect if the icons where white, whitout any background colour, like the lockscreen ring color.

Thank you,
Mauricio

Expanded Desktop

It seems like commit 4c5aef5
broke expanded desktop:
In 2.4.1 the expanded desktop in the power menu is missing and the tile does not work...

Issues with expanded Desktop (in Kitkat)

Sometimes while disabling expanded desktop I end up with an empty navigation bar. Nothing is clickable on it. And enabling and redisabling does not help then...

Pie unresponsive

I'm a pie lower, but sometimes (I'm unable to provide you a test case) it seems unresponsive, I had to swipe 3/4 times.

As a plus would be nice a settings to set the delay for showing the pie, hide it or move.

Transparent Status

The transparent status bar seems that is not working on Kitkat launcher.

Polish to statusbar

If an app sets this flag: SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LOW_PROFILE
and circle battery is chosen, it is the only symbol not hidden...

And now I know the reason for the clock in statusbar using holo_blue_dark:
When enabled the new setting, then the clock looks too dark, because its tiny lines...
Possible to exclude clock from the color "repair"?

Hide ongoing notification ICONS without hiding the actual notification

I use the Lux automatic brightness adjuster app, which uses an ongoing notification to prevent Android from killing it. However, I dislike persistent notification icons in my status bar. IMO, icons should depict something that needs your notification, not an ongoing service. However, I like that I can swipe the notification drawer down and have access to the Lux widget in the notification bar.

As is, notification blocking will block the notification entirely. I propose a second option to only block the icon, as this seems like a very useful feature.

PS: absolutely love the module, thanks for all the work! :)

Search button on pie controls dont realy search.

The search button on pie controls its not the real search button on andriod, its just a shortcut to google now, its possible to make it work as default search button.

also would be nice to have a second accion when holding on any pie control.

Thanks!

[MM][Feature Request] "Safe Mode" to be considered in Advanced reboot menu

Hi.

Could you please consider adding the option for Safe Mode in Advanced reboot menu?

As of now, there are four but highly useful options. To boot into Safe Mode (albeit not done occasionally) one has to unnecessary long press onto Power off option. I think adding a separate option into Reboot menu would be a nice thing to have. In fact, (while you may be knowing it already) not even a full reboot would be necessary.

It's the property persist.sys.safemode which needs to be set to 1 or alternatively, /data/property/persist.sys.safemode set to 1 and with permissions 600 (root:root). Follow this with a soft reboot and there you go with Safe mode. I speak per this answer: http://android.stackexchange.com/a/131224/96277

Report SMS Spam

According to Lifehacker, you can report spam messages to most providers (MVNOs too). The process may be slightly different between carriers, but generally, it's:

  1. Forward the message you've received to 7746 (SPAM)
  2. When you get a reply, you'll have instructions to send the spammer's number to 7746
  3. You'll get a thank you reply, and a warm-fuzzy feeling that you're saving the planet (or not)

Where GravityBox comes in:
The process, while not too difficult, isn't widely known and therefore doesn't work as well as say Gmail's spam filtering. GravityBox is probably the most installed Xposed module, so adding in a menu here:
screenshot_2014-03-19-18-42-56

and maybe one here:
screenshot_2014-03-19-18-42-29

to report spam messages would be pretty awesome. It could automate the process. I tried emulating this in Tasker, but didn't get to far.

Strange behaviour and a question

Hey

How/Can I change the number of apps showed in the menu?

If I hold the back key I will switch to the last app. This works fine until I enable the function navigatin bar "always on bottom".

The switch works but there pops up another message and I don't know why:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zi3jpkchl7ip4oc/ScreenRecording_2014-01-26--11-17-38.mp4

Thanks for your great work!
Keep going!

Thanks :-)

EDIT: Another strange thing: If "always on bottom" is enabled I have more apps in a singular menu page.
EDIT2: Ten minutes later: Does not work :/

Reboot, Recovery

I'm on 4.2.2 with TWRP.

I added advanced reboot, and the phone is not going in recovery and even isn't able to do a soft reboot.

Carrier text issue in status bar

Since last update (2.9.5) in status bar the carrier text shows "no service" but there is service.

Disabling GB solve the issue, also installing version 2.9.4 solved the issue.

Move setting 'Leave stock battery icon intact'

I don't know what this setting does (didn't notice any difference) but it obviously relates to battery settings and thus should be moved from it's current place 'Statusbar tweaks > Statusbar colors' to 'Statusbar tweaks > Battery settings'

Color circle battery when charging

While the rotation animation is pretty and all, it's hard to notice from afar or at a glance, whether the phone is charging properly from looking at it. Especially with little to no battery charge, when the bar is significantly smaller. I'd love to be able to have it green for example, or maybe surrounded with a small outline, so that we can look at it with a glance. I always have to wait 3-4 seconds to notice if it's turning, or put the phone closer.

Thanks!

AOKP like cursor keys

http://i.imgur.com/ybxidKU.png

This implementation for a cursor of AOKP is the most easy-to-use one I know.
Don't know how easy it is to implement or whether you want to, I only want to suggest it...
(The arrows are only there if keyboard is open
I guess biggest problem is the handling of legacy menu button...)

[FEATURE REQUEST] Changing the default homescreen # on GEL

With the Xposed GEL Settings module going kaput after the google search 3.4 update, I'd like if a few of its features were written into gravity box. I only used the module for one thing : Changing the default homescreen from #2 (i.e. the one right next to google now) to #3.

DIsable HW Button Backlight not working

I'm running OmniRom 4.4.1 (nightly) and the setting to disable HW key backlight isnt working.

After I select the always off option, the backlight is turned off, but the next time I click on the screen it turns on again.

At boot, it remains off, until I touch a HW key, then its on again.

Button backlight notification when charging

Some ideas.
I have QI DIY module in my phone. I'd like to have that option - I just put phone on QI transmitter and phone button backlight is ON.

It's easy to understanding, that now phone is charging.

2 battery indicators

If I select any value other than "None" in "Statusbar tweaks > Battery settings > Battery indicator style" then I get battery indicator doubled: the standard one + the one added by GB.

Device: JiaYu G4S Advanced (2GB RAM, 16GB ROM)
Android v.: 4.2.2
GB v.: 3.2.1

Harware Keys additional features

Hi,
Two small suggestions:

  • Allow double tap on back button (for example in combination with Kill Foreground App action, harder to mis-activate than long press)
  • Make Home key as selectable action (very useful for people with the Home key not working correctly, I'm using another xposed module just to remap Long Menu Press into Home Key)

Circle Battery color

The Circle Battery is too bright and I think the centered clock too.
For the circle I looked through the code. It is a fork of the CM implementation and the color is even commented. But not fixed due theme compatibility.
Since GB is for stock ROMs I think hardcoding the color would be alright?

Duplicate entries in the notification blocker

Hello guys

I see some duplicate lines in the latest version in the notification blocker. For example "Android System" appears twice, also "System UI" etc. I wonder what happens if I mark one and leave the other one unmarked?

I suspect that the duplicate lines still have different sources. Just the output needs more information I guess.

Why am I saying this? I found this out when I tried to suppress one notification from the TextSecure app I recently installed. Btw: I am unable to block notifications from the TextSecure app because it does not appear in the list. Maybe both problems are related to each other?

Network Mode

The Network mode tile (2G-3G-2G/3G) is great, but I believe most people do never use the option 3G.
That's why I would like the option to only present those two options.

I know it's very minor, and I will survive a wontfix, but since I use the tile very often I would love the feature...

[REQUEST] Mapping HW Keys functions to NAV BAR keys on Nexus4

I would like to request a feature, which would enable the user to access all the "HARDWARE KEY ACTIONS" functions for the Nav Bar Buttons (Back, Home & Recents) for Nexus 4. Or Alternatively you can create a separate functionality and list it under main menu "NAV BAR ACTIONS".

Thanks

(P.S. - Me and My friend are a huge fan of GravityBox and we are following your thread since a long time... Although we have donated too... ) Thanks.

Customisable pie buttons + second row

GravityBox is awesome app! But I really appreciate to have a possibility to change number and type of actions on the pie. It could run application, shortcuts or even activities of apps.

Also second row would be fine! (But not so important for me)

Thank you in advance...

secondary orange signal

Default secondary signal chip is orange, but if you use another color for the signal (in android setup) it can't be colored in gravitybox.

So I think it should be a good idea to colorice both chips the same or let choose which color I'm using for secondary chip

Long press does not work with Pie controls

Neither default not custom one. For example, Firefox should show tab Back-Forward history popup on long Back button press. It does with hardware button, and probably with Navigation Bar button, but not with Pie one.

Recent Apps Tweaks

Can you please add tweaks that allow the removal of the app name and icon and line. That would really help with getting rid of the redundancy.

Image artifacts with blurred lockscreen custom background image

Hello,

There seems to be some image artifacts on the right side of the lockscreen custom background image when bluer effect is enabled. Theses artifacts appears with any custom background image (with different resolution)

The artifacts changes patterns (sometimes even disappears) when turning off/on the screen.

Attached screenshots shows the background with and without blur effect (with different artifact patterns)

No Blur
Blur/Artifacts 1
Blur/Artifacts 2

Just some feature suggestions

I've just collected a couple ideas.
If you're interested in something I'll gladly provide source commits from other ROMs as reference.

  1. swipe across the bottom line of the notification drawer to switch to QS (and back)
  2. an option for the data mode toggle to remove LTE from the options (I don't have an LTE data plan but need to toggle through it)
  3. Brightness slider in notifications drawer
  4. Google Experience Launcher in KitKat: option to choose the default homescreen
  5. an option for the hardware buttons to toggle the notification drawer (as the status bar is sometimes hard to reach on big screens). This one might be a bit to complicated to implement, at least SlimRom uses deep hacks to achieve it

Edit:
6) KitKat: Support for the status_bar_show_battery_percent option.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47293143&postcount=52
Plus an option to change the color (see line 208: http://androidxref.com/4.4_r1/xref/frameworks/base/packages/SystemUI/src/com/android/systemui/BatteryMeterView.java#208)
Maybe even based on the battery percentage (dark grey when > 30%, orange when > 14%, red when below, light green when charging) etc.

Clear all tasks issue

I think you need to add a bottom margin for "clear all tasks" and "recent tasks ram bar"..

Thanks

GravityBox can't fix SMS wake at MTK6589

Hi!

I'm using latest GravityBox (1.7.1) but neither 1.7.1 nor 1.5.0 can't fix wake up on incoming SMS.
I installed it as APK, then moved to /system/app (+ chmod 644) without any luck. Also I installed it from recovery - same problem - my phone is still wake up on incoming SMS.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Phone is Zopo C2. If You need debug.log and/or framework - it's not a problem to upload it somewhere :)

Additions to Quicksettings tiles

Some ideas for the Quicksettings and it's polish:

  1. A lock the screen tile (for people not locking on hitting power button)
  2. Better alignment of the different tiles (did not look through the code to look whether that's possible...)
Perhaps option to disable the text (makes sense for 4/5 tiles per row)
  3. the blue color of the gps tile does not match the other ones...
  4. The volume tile on my Nexus 7 has 3 different modes, although it has no vibrate at all
