ToyBox and Controller have a history of producing bugs (specifically the map is/was buggy once).
You could try to post your logs but I can't promise anything.

I'm sorry for not responding sooner. Your initial message flew by my inbox, and I've been doing doubles, so no leisure time. Since controller compatibility's been an ongoing issue for ToyBox, I don't want to bother you; I thought it was a new issue. Still, only a small number of us prefer using a controller, and with how often updates break ToyBox, I can't ask you to go through the trouble. It's unfair; you do more than enough to keep it updated and accessible. Thank you for reaching out.

Like I mentioned above, if you could send a log we might find something; though that's only a hope and controller support is not a priority.

I'll close this for now since we had some more detailed discussions in #999 which relates to the same problem.
The game makes fundamental changes when switching between Keyboard and Controller (the UI elements are different, therefore the classes are different, therefore the current Patches which only focus on PCView (keyboard) will break when ConsoleView (controller) is used).
@cabarius did say she might take on that project, though she's currently still playing Diablo. So controller support is now more or less a planned feature but there's no ETA.
