pywavelearn's Introduction

Caio E. Stringari, PhD

Hi πŸ‘‹, my name is Caio (pronounced as K-β€œEYE”-oh, β€œK” as in β€œKey” β€œEye” β€œOh” as the β€œo” in β€œPro”) and I am an Earth Scientist 🌎. I currently live in St. John's, Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦. I recently finished first post-doc in France πŸ‡«πŸ‡·. I have a PhD from the University of Newcastle, Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί and a bachelor's degree in oceanography from the Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil πŸ‡§πŸ‡·. I am specialized in using machine learning and data-driven techniques to solve challenging environmental problems. My work so far focused mainly to study waves 🌊 processes such as wave breaking, energy dissipation and wave-wave interactions - which have several coastal and ocean engineering applications. I program mostly in python but can work proficiently with fortran, octave/matlab and (occasionally) C++.

Hey,
read the paper, really interested in using this to track wave breaking across the surfzone. I'm trying to use the detect_breaking_events function from the scripts library, but i don't seem to see a way. Am i missing something? Do i have to redefine function as you have it or is there a way to import the function and start using it?

Thanks,

Spicer
