sps's Introduction

Simple Project Switcher

Simple Project Switcher aims to provide for projects the same "switching" experience that Cmd+P provides for files.

Installation

This extension is private and not publicly available on VS Code's extension marketplace.

To install the extension, search for and select Extensions: Install from VSIX... from VS Code's command palette (Cmd+Shift+P).

Basic Usage

  • From within a project in VS Code, press Cmd+; (or Ctrl+; on Windows)
  • A "Quick Switcher" dialogue will pop up with a list of all the folders in your current project's parent directory
  • Search for a project, and press Enter

Switching back and forth between two projects

  • While holding Cmd, press the ; key twice to switch the most recently accessed project
  • Repeat the above sequence to switch back

Configuring a custom directory

By default, this extension uses the parent directory of the current project for the project list.

You can customize this behavior by setting an explicit projects directory in your settings.json file:

{
    "simple-project-switcher.directory": "/Users/calebporzio/Sites",
}

sps's Issues

Add license

I would like to use this extension, but I can't find a LICENSE file nor "license" key in the package.json.

Could you add an open source license? For example AGPL.

Add Support for Multiple Directories in Settings

As I was digging through this work, I noticed another issue.

Currently, the project switching even if just from recent can't switch out of the current directory. Typically, I have two working directories to keep my work and OSS/personal projects separate (git-config and all that jazz).

I realized as a part of the testing and really using this plugin, that this is actually probably the bigger thing to fix. I'm guessing it's a bigger change than what was expected to just add support for multiple directories in settings.

@calebporzio would you like me to work through both things?

Also, I think it would be nice to tell the user which directory the project is in, something like this:
