I've found a couple of issues with the App Image running it on Manjaro Linux.
When you select the browser tab it displays the icon in the bottom right to add a new note but also displays a blank ( image not found ) icon above it which if i click on seems to be the rename icon ?
Also I tried to import my extracted Google Keep and managed to select one of the files to import but it just sits saying import the file and never goes any further. I tried various file but they all won't import.

Feature Request: Markdown Support

I'd love Carnet to be able to edit and support my existing Markdown notes, which is what Nextcloud Notes app does. It would be great if they could continue to live in their current directory rather than being moved. Thanks for reading.

Nextcloud sync does not works with android app

Now list feature is working on 0.12.0, I was trying to use Carnet as my main note-taking application.

I installed CarnetNextcloud and Carnet for android, then, I created a test note on Nextcloud and configured Carnet on Android to connect to my Nextcloud instance. So far, no problem or error, but I cannot see the note on Carnet on Android.

I tapped on "Sync with cloud storage" on Android app, but it does not seems to sync nor returns any error. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or that message in Nextcloud logs have some meaning for you

Describe the bug
I had a working Carnet installation. Upon clicking the update button in the Nextcloud app page, I get this message:

An exception occurred while executing 'CREATE TABLE oc_carnet_metadata (path VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL, metadata LONGTEXT DEFAULT NULL, last_modification_file INT DEFAULT NULL, UNIQUE INDEX indexpath (path)) DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_bin ENGINE = InnoDB ROW_FORMAT = compressed': SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1071 Specified key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes

Nextcloud then tries to do a system update via the browser, but continues to show this error. Therefore, I can not get a login page. I then had to use occ to disable the app to be able to log back in.

Go to Apps page in the admin account on Nextcloud
Click on Update button for the Carnet app.
See error

Expected behavior
The update should complete.

List support

I love Carnet.

Its the most similar to Google Keep I found so far (which is the best note taking application at the moment under my point of view). Its simplicity, avoiding using the just-for-geeks Markdown language and the overloaded WYSIWYG editors. It has found the balance between easiness and good aesthetics. Good job!

I miss, though, a proper list support. Where lists are lists, not tasks where we can check and uncheck items easily. Think in google keep's lists, which IMHO is the best on this.

Importing from Google Keep does not work.

After exporting all notes in html from Keep, I extract them to a folder.
Then I set a default folder in settings, in the linux64 client. I click import from Google Keep, and navigate to the folder where all keep notes were stored.
Upon choosing the folder I see a list of all my notes.
Here I've tried to select all, some or only one. In all cases, when clicking "import" I get a progress bar and a text saying how many notes are remaining. This number never changes and the importing procedure never ends.

Describe the bug
When editing a note and introducing formatting, it's difficult to know what you're gonna be typing next in terms of formatting. I started with a header, then on the next line, I make the text small again, then remove bold, but then if I click elsewhere than the line I was previously typing on, then the bolding is still there.

Seems to stem from applying formatting changes after a resume click. Clicking one of the formatting tools also shouldn't remove the cursor's focus from the text.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

Go to a note in Carnet
Write text in two paragraphs
With the cursor on the second line click the Bold formatting tool
Click on first line then resume back to second line, and type where the cursor was before

Expected behavior
Expected to bold the line or remove underline before cursor resumes to line, not after it

Canet search option not work

I have several notes created. When I use search option, even if I enter keyword, only blank results. Any idea?¿

Notes with Images and Links Preview

This is really an enhancement, but Carnet should have the option to take notes with attached images and link preview. I'm making the transition from Google Keep and I think this would be a nice feature for Carnet.

Unable to record voice message

Describe the bug
Recording a voice message doesn't work at all

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

Go to Media
Click on '+' to add a new voice message
The browser asks for microphone permissions, I accept - counter starts counting
It is not possible to stop the pending recording - nor does it records something. Klicking on Stop [ ] only opens another counter which keeps on counting. Klick on the trash bin closes with no results.

By the way: with the Android app I was able to record voice notes but playback within this Nextcloud app is choppy and messed up.

As I originally reported in nextcloud/server#11913, this app is directly responsible for breaking the ./occ CLI tool.

To have this tool become a great succsessor of other note taking tools it may be fantastic to integrate a list/checkbox feature as needed for shopping lists and so on ...

If possible this should be integrated into mobile app and nc-app.

Internal server error when Carnet is enabled

Describe the bug
My Nextcloud login page just stays empty. Only the HTTP error code 500 is output in the server's logs.
As soon as I deactivate the Carnet App (via OCC Command), the page is accessible again.

I also noticed that links to shared files and folders do not work (HTTP error 500) after some time when Carnet is enabled.

Carnet prevents guest users to connect to nextcloud talk

Describe the bug
When carnet is installed, connection as (not logged in) guest user to a nextcloud talk conversation will fail with server error 500.

Inspection of the logs show:

Seems like this should be wrapped into some kind of is_logged_in() logic.

With carnet uninstalled Talk works as expected, guest users can connect and join a session.

UI/UX efficiency

When opening carnet I don't want to move my mouse to the bottom right to start a new note. I want to click on to a new sheet of paper and start typing without reloading for many seconds and then clicking around to set a title and tags and then the content.

I want to be able to operate carnet as much as possible with keyboard only.

The design should have been:
Title at top
Tags second (autocompletion)
Content last

And this should be available as instant note taking when operating the app, not only when I click something like "new note". Or at the very least put the "new note" button away from bottom right as a new card with a plus symbol in the middle or something.

Add easy way to quit Carnet app in Nextcloud

This is no explicit way to quit the Carnet app that I could find. Since it hides the Nextcloud top bar menu, please add a way to exit the app with a click.

Interface/Icons look broken, UI issues

I just tested this in NC 14 for the first time.

There are several issues with the UI.

First of all, the icon of the app itself appears to be broken.
Then, there are three more broken icon on the page once the app is started/clicked.
In addition, parts of the delete button appear for a second time.
It also was not clear to me where to set the folder for the carnet files, but perhaps this is just not showing up because of broken interface issues?

Let me know if any further info is needed. Browser is the latest stable chrome, client platform is Linux_amd64.

Opening of note in Recent leaves note blank

When I open a note in the "Recent" menu option, a new note appears. When opened in "Browse" the note appears

Automatic miniature in the list of notes

Within the browser displaying recent or all notes, it would be nice to have, near the title or just under it, a miniature created with the first image of the note.
It works with an added media, but not with an image inserted inside the note with a copy-paste.

Add option to delete a note

When a note is not necessary it there is no possibility to delete the note, see picture. It will be nice to have this option

Can't save and load on 0.13.2

Describe the bug
I can create new empty notes. After that I got an error when I entered a character and it was not saved. Once I return to the list, the memo is displayed only for the date. I am loading it as soon as I try to open it. Even if I try to change the title, I will not be registered. I can open the memo that I was creating in the past.

Android app connection

Hi,

I have installed your app on my new nextcloud installation. It works great on the web version, but I can't connect to it from the android app.
I have the error "an error occurred, check credentials" when I try to connect to it.
Is there something to add in the .htaccesso like a rewrite or something?

Nextcloud app freezes without displaying notes

[Feature Request] Share Carnet file with Nextcloud built in share system

I love what I'm getting out of Carnet despite it not yet having some of the features I care about in Google Keep (location and time based reminders).

I think (albeit "Dunning-Kruger effect" style), it won't be hard to add this functionality.

Almost everything in Nextcloud has the ability to share via link or other methods. View/Edit priveledges. If a Note in Carnet is just an object within the Nextcloud environment (~/Documents/QuickNote/*.sqd), it should have an ability to share it to others in a similar way from within the Carnet app. As of now any sharing of the direct file only allows downloading despite it being a beautifully enriched object.

I assume Carnet is supposed to be bigger than a subset of Nextcloud, so this type of sharing would try to allow a link shared via any method to some non-Nextcloud user to open the shared object in their mobile app (and prompt to install it if they don't have it already), or browse to the host Nextcloud users web interface if activating the link on a non-mobile device.

Carnet App Icon Missing and OCP\Lock\LockedException Errors

Guess you'd be hearing back from me sooner than expected :) . So it appears there is an issue with the Icon being displayed in the app bar due to issues with View.php. Based on the output below I am assuming this is snap related as well.

Customizing / modifying note path in NC is not possible; Carnet can only use default

In my understanding the default note path (in Nextcloud) is: Documents - QuickNote

Which syntax must I use in Settings if I want to change the note path to:
Dokumente - Notizen

This folder already exists in my NC account.

Todays Scan of ClamAV revaeled a possible virus/malware that is beeing distributed together with latest Carnet:

Battery use is very high

On the Android app, 46% of the overall battery consumption is made by Carnet.
There are no more permissions than storage.
Application is included on Battery Optimization list.
Lineage OS 14.1.

Naming errors.

Describe the bug
After update ( or maybe some time later) i've found that images on several notes become unaccessable. While loading carnet webapp i've got 500 errors.
Firefox dev tools network(500 error example):

Ability to paste to-do lists

Related to #18, I think.

Someone just sent me an e-mail with a big list of stuff to take with me. I thought I would copy-paste it into Carnet's to-do list, but everything was pasted on the same line.

Would it be possible to paste every item I copied as a new to-do item? It doesn't seem too complicated to check for

I can see this interfering with people trying to paste multi-line text into a todo, but that doesn't appear to be supported, so it isn't a big issue for now.

Of course, if you paste a long text by mistake, it would be tedious to delete every item created, so Ctrl+Z would be welcome here as well, but that's not a priority.

Carnet does not respect the ui theme

It seems like Carnet does not understand dark theme in NC 14. I select darktheme in the NC settings but Carnet still pretends to be white theme

Edit > cut (or delete)

Hello,

Thank you for your app. It allows me to edit my notes both on mobile and computer, as they are long to write, need many additions along the day, and I can edit or correct them in the evening at desk, that's great for me.
It would be nice to be able to cut text. The problem actually is when you select text in android (v.9 pie), and press edit to copy (or copy button), the keyboard disappear and you're not able to delete the copied text.
You have to select once again to press the keyboard delete button.
I know I can drag and drop, but I prefer to do the copy-paste method as the texts are pretty dense.

Rich text support for URL's

Carnet does not support URL's as far as I can tell. It would be useful to embed a url in text from both a menu icon and keyboard shortcut.

To edit the title within the note

While creating or modifying a note, to have on the top of the note, a text field with the title.

missing support for bullet list / error using unicode

Unfortunately, Carnet is lacking bullet list in it's Format settings.
As a workaround, I added myself bullets in front of list items using unicode character (hexidecimal U+2022)

Since then, when opening any note in editing mode, I get a brief error note at the bottom of carnet (nexcloud, using Chrome v.73) which says:

Describe the bug
i have a folder called "documents" already in my nextcloud. i don't want Carnet to create a new folder called "Documents". instead i want to point carnet to "documents/notes". Carnet won't change the path properly. seems to create the directories, but some of the files like recentdb are missing

"documents" is an external smb share in nextcloud

To Reproduce

install Carnet app in Nextcloud admin panel
login as another nextcloud user (non-admin)
i go to "settings" and change the path to "documents/notes"
i get the spinning colour circle forever.
reload the app page
no notes shown in "browser" or "recent"
settings page now shows path as "false"

Expected behavior
data path changed to whatever is in "settings" page

I installed notebook from the library built into nextcloud and when I go in the application ben it loads to the left and in the top left corner there is this symbol ">"
