til3r's Introduction

TIL3R

TIL3R adds more manual tiling options to KWin. With this script you can divide you screen in thirds, using the full or half screen height.

Stuff that could be done:

  • multimonitor testing and support [done?]
  • maximize windows in certain directions, e.g.
    • Meta+Alt+Left: keep height, but stretch window to left border
    • Meta+Alt+Down: keep width, but stretch window to lower border
    • etc.
  • changing the shortcuts to the following:
    • Meta+Alt+[NUMBER]: Tile horizontally, full height
    • Meta+Ctrl+[SOME_KEY]: switch to half height
  • saving the window properties (size, pos) and adding a callback to restore the old size when the window gets moved by the user again (like the normal KWin tiling does)

til3r's Issues

Broken

Hi, I love this tiler, but it does not seem to work with kde plasma 5.23.1.

isolate til3r effects per display

I'm trying to split windows into thirds on my external 4k monitor and don't need til3r on my smaller laptop display. Currently, til3r is counting my laptop display as column 1/3, and my external monitor as columns 2/3 and 3/3. Effectively, this provides no more utility than KWin's default 50/50 window snapping.

Til3r would be perfect for my needs if I only had one display.
