A fun little space game i've been working on for an excuse to brush up on my C++. It uses all open-source libraries and tools. Here is a demo video, it is extremely simplistic at this point though.

Make an new orbit animator.

The built-in flycircleanimator a) only orbits the Y axis and b) doesn't allow  
the thing being circled to move, which is needed for moons orbiting moving 
planets

Integrate Physics

After fiddling I quickly decided we need proper physics. After looking around 
it appears bullet is a good solid physics engine. Also there is a wrapper 
called irrbullet which is for supposedly integrating it into irrlicht.

Need to add animated orbiting.

Startup menu system

Need a menu screen to pause and continue/quit game. Also having irrlicht 
provide some video settings is simple.

Create Player class inheriting Ship

Will need to create a Player class that is a ship, but is used with the event 
handler.

Ship Model

We need at least one good ship model. Since we are going to have the 2d layout 
thing where you move around, we need a cross-section of each ship model as well.

I have that blender file full of good ship components. I'll throw it on dropbox 
for ya.

Huds

We want a hud for the ship. Also a hud outline for selectable objects etc.
