discussion about reliabilty

• for added reliability, the streaming feature (n°1) and the alarm feature (n°2) should be on two different pairs of devices

• the analog babyphones might stay in place, adding another level of reliability

• the goal of the system should be carefully chosen. Eg:

  • is it the primary alarm system?
  • is it used if there is any doubt about the output of the analog system?

• remove all the unnecessary elements (pieces of code, libraries, ...)

• test test test and test even more, in real conditions

send/braodcast with higher volume? more sensitive microphone?

optimize the codec for bandwidth, CPU usage, ...

start the scripts at the boot time

the alarm could ring a sip phone

possible architectures

• mikes in several rooms, 1 server, several smartphones are connected to it
• 1 server per mike
• there may be a Raspberry Pi connexted to an HDMI screen, so that the screen shows the current status and also plays the sounds (and maybe a bargraph to show the sound level/frequency)
