cc-buglist's Issues

Grounding dispels

This question is partially based on a report, but I made it a tad bit broader.

Questions:
Should multi-purpose dispels (e.g., dispel magic, devour magic) by groundable by grounding totem when used on a hostile target?
Should offensive dispels (e.g., purge) be groundable by grounding totem?

Idol of Emeral Queen (id: 27886)

This item is reported not working correctly (which seems to be true).

However, research to figure out how it should work (with proper sources) still needs to be done.

Vanish in Flare

Question: Should a rogue be able to use vanish in a hunter's flare? In MoP you couldn't, but reports suggests in TBC you could. A video of this happening would be sufficient evidence.

Mangy Wolf

A Mangy Wolf near Crystal Lake,Elwynn Forest evades all my attacks (charge, thunderclap, autoattack, demoshout)

Shapeshift cancelled on collection

Report:
"There is a bug with druids and collecting quest items on the ground. If you are shapeshifted it will automatically force you into the human form. I was in cat form and i was looting [Etherlithium Matrix Crystal] for the quest [You're Hired!] in netherstorm (one of the first quests you get in are 52) and it switched to human form."

Note: We have no idea either way. But it felt like the kind of report that needs a bit of meat on its bone before it's fixed.

Auto-attack on ability usage

"Upon activating a skill on a rogue, the auto swing hits before a skill does. The swing timer should start after you do a skill on a neutral target."

Daeghan, the original reporter, pointed out to me that if you run up to a low level neutral mob and use Sinister Strike (for example) on it, the mob will die from auto attack. That made me very convinced somethings going wrong. The bug happens because SS is queued in the spell queue, whereas auto-hit is executed right away.

That made me wonder what actually happens. Is there some initial delay on the first auto attack? If so, how long is it? Or is it bound to spell delay somehow as well (this goes against our current understanding, but might be a possiblity as well)? I realize this is a difficult to determine topic (single frame stepping through rogue pvp videos might be one way to approach this), but any help would be much appreciated.

Shiv energy on immune

Report:
"Shiv energy on immune
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWof214huCM&feature=youtu.be
RETAIL VIDEO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba6Ty72eSH8 (6min:0sec / 7min:20sec / look it with slow speed)
Here other video(season2) but rogue are on adrenaline rush, you can see him spam shiv on icebloc)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBWnrYbFRPE (4min50sec)"

Note: The report claims that shiv should not consume energy on immune. However, the first video both at 6 minutes and 7:20, if you slow it down to 0.25 is actually not shiv from what I and nim saw, but poison.
In regards to the first video:
At 6:00 you can see him pop sprint, enter GCD and start spamming shiv. However, the immune message is before the GCD is over (from poison?) and his shiv goes off late, and seems to be absorbed (and cost energy).
At 7:20 he spams shiv, but it seems to not go on cooldown, and again the immune message is probably poison.

In regards to the second video:
He seems to be variating between clicking shiv and hemorrhage. He does also lose some energy (does not seem to be enough for the 20 that Shiv costs?)

Looking for further evidence about this report.

Ambassador Hellmaw in Shadow Labs

I was in a group for Heroic Shadow Labs yesterday, after we killed the last pack of channeling Orcs, the first boss Ambassador Hellmaw did not release from his banish. We continued on and he still did not release

I am positive we had wiped on the packs of Orcs channeling right prior to hellmaw and exited the instance to summon another if this possibly messed with him.

Other notes on the Heroic include

-No fel armaments dropping (could this be caused form no one having rep with the Aldor)
-Very very few vendor greens I am talking like 3 or 4 after 25 packs of mobs, is that right?

Do Expose Weakness and Imp. Hunter's Mark stack?

Question: Does the effect of Expose Weakness and Imp. Hunter's Mark stack?

It seems natural to assume the answer is yes, but it would go against the current ruleset for stacking, indicating an exception in the current rules, or a new rule. Therefore we need evidence to implement this.

Mage Blink

Mage blink seems to be bugging, especially when fighting a player and blinking through him as he casts a spell on you. This sometimes results in the enemy player being force-turned to face you.

I noticed this best when dueling another mage on my mage, as we were blinking through eachother trying to avoid one-another's hardcast spells we noticed that somehow although we blinked way before the spell was completed, the "casting mage" automatically had his camera-yaw turned towards the "blinking mage".
Again this behavior is not normal, I have dueled hundreds maybe thousands of times, and I am aware when somebody turns willfully, besides I talked to others, and they experienced the same issue.

Seal of Command & Vengeance

Report: "Paladin Retribution talent Vengeance does not proc with Seal of Command Seal criticals. It should proc with all offensive critical strikes from the Paladin skillset."

Vengeance tooltip: "Gives you a X% bonus to Physical and Holy damage you deal for 30 seconds after dealing a critical strike from a weapon swing, spell, or ability. This effect stacks up to 3 times."

Question: is this report accurate? A single video or screenshot where this happens, or indeed a trust-worthy source (such as some elitistjerks threads), would be enough to confirm this.

Create Healthstone recast

"Create Healthstone can be cast if a healthstone of the same rank is already present in the Warlock's inventory. Creating a second healthstone will consume mana and a soulshard, but the second healthstone will not be created in the inventory."

Spells like create soulstone for example, do indeed error out when trying to create another of the same item, so it'd seem natural create healthstone would do the same. However, its spell data and implementation is a tad bit different which makes it fall outside of the generic category that the former mentioned spell is in, making me question if it did indeed function like this on retail. All in all this seems like a fairly minor thing, but I thought we might as well put up the research topic.

Ghost Wolf & Weapon Imbues

Report: "Enhancement Weapon Imbues: should not proc of attacks done in ghost wolf".

Question: Is this correct? A video, screenshot or reliable textual source would be sufficient to prove this.

Entering wrong instance as ghost

When ,as a ghost, entering an instance you did not die in, you get ported back to the graveyard. Happend when entering an instance in hellfire pensuela.
Not sure if bug or i am just not remembering it correctly. If so please delete.

Judgement of Wisdom & Consecration

Report: "Paladin ability Judgement of Wisdom and Consecration function - Judgement of Wisdom should be able to proc on the first damage tick of Consecration ability (only the first, rest do not have chance to proc it), currently doesn't at all. (http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6203)"

Question: The provided source seems a bit weak for a report that goes against our current understanding of procs. We're looking for a more reliable source; this includes videos and/or a trustworthy textual source (such as elitistjerks).

Pathing: zigzagging does not make mobs slower

Zigzag kiting monsters does not work. I doubt this has been reported before because few people realized it existed even on retail and it was fixed in later expacs, and it also never worked on a single private server as far as I can tell, but lately I was able to recall discussions on the subject from the Noggaholic community back in the day. I could no longer find the boards or the discussions, however.

The correct way for zigzag kiting to work would be that when a player, being pursued by a mob, quickly strafes left and right, switching directions all the time, the monster should repeat these movements but slightly slower, making the monster (in most cases) fall behind in run speed.

Proof? Difficult to find. These are very poor sources, but here's one mention (from 2009): http://www.wowguider.com/?p=29 . Wowwiki may also mention it, unless it means something else (this was written in 2008): http://www.wowwiki.com/Combat?oldid=1657206 - "Quickly strafing (sidestepping) left and right while running away will make it easier to escape mobs in pursuit."

Videos are difficult to come by. I personally remember going through the whole of Eastern Kingdoms without dying as a low level utilizing this technique in high level areas, but that's not much for evidence. Maybe somebody else can find more proof.

Shadowstep and Cheap Shot

"Shadowstep buff is removed upon Cheap Shot, this is a non-damaging ability and shouldn't remove the buff. Also gets removed in PvP where the Threat application of the buff has no merit."

Swimming Jump?

While your swimming and press jump, you literally jump underwater instead of swimming upwards

[NPC]: Marauding Crust Burster

Hi, the Marauding Crust Burster casts a poison spell which hits between 600 to 800, it felt a tiny bit overboard at the higher damage range so I checked for old comments on the matter and this came up at (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=16857/marauding-crust-burster#comments):

"By ov3rk11l (745 โ€“ 3ยท5) on 2008/10/03 (Patch 2.4.3)
these things are hardcore for mages, since they have !@# armor and ^&! hp, cuz all these guys do is poision, that inflicts 300+ damage, forcing us to use mana sheild. But its k, just as long as u have POM and ur fire specced it shouldnt be too hard,"

300+ damage is of course open for interpretation.

AoE, traps, totems, etc in a friendly region: how does it affect PvP flagging?

Question: If an area of effect spell, trap, totem, and so on, is placed down in, let's say Elwynn Forest, and a Horde walks by with /pvp flag on. Should, assuming the Alliance that used the effect is not /pvp flagged, the effect work on the Horde, and bring the Alliance into /pvp? Or, should it ignore the Horde as a potential target?

A video would serve as good evidence in this case.

Arcane missiles, reflecting ticks

Should you be able to reflect individual ticks of arcane missiles?

Prefer a video or some reliable source (like arenajunkies, etc).

Capturing PvP goals

"gaining influence at a PvP location should happen at a much slower rate if the player is mounted(eots, halaa, twinspire ruins, hellfire etc)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14gSH_00LUQ low quality,sped up."

I think the report itself is probably correct; the main reason I add this to research is to figure out how the rate of capture changes when you're mounted.

[Honor Hold]: Marshal Isildor and a few infantry npcs

Hi, Marshal Isildor and a few of his infantry npcs standing by the gryphon master are running around at random intervalls within Honor Hold, I have provided a few screenshots below of where they as example are running at, and where the original squad is standing.

Warlock pet resummon

Report:
"Resummoning pet should reset his cooldowns on all spells."

Note: This is about warlock pets in particular. For example resummoning mage's pet does indeed clear its cooldowns, we're less sure about warlock and are looking for some evidence, however.

BG regeneration buff

Report:
"Hello

The Health Regeneration buff is removed by DoTS.
It is supposed to only be removed by Direct Damage.

I have tried desperately to find proper video confirmation, but wasted an hour doing so."

Note: we're inclined to remember that the regeneration buffs in WSG broke on any damage, even DoTs. Need some evidence in either direction.

Negative stat mods shown incorrectly in character pane

Negative modifiers like Vindication work, and show the resulting stat in the character pane, but it shows the stat as absolute instead of modified negatively by a debuff. I.e. the stat does not appear red with a red modifier when you hover it.

This was hack-fixed when found with armor debuffs. But now that it's been shown to be a more general error, the hack should be replaced by a proper fix.

Crowd Control and running out of range

"Sheeped monster doesn't evade if you run away so you have to wait the full duration till it drops combat"

This report could use some investigating to determine how it ought to behave. Also, if it turns out correct, would being in a dungeon disable this mechanic (I'm inclined to think it would)?

Imp. Drain Soul

Drain Soul's tooltip read:
"Drains the soul of the target, causing X Shadow damage over 15 seconds. If the target dies while being drained, and yields experience or honor, the caster gains a Soul Shard. Soul Shards are required for other spells."

Improved Drain Soul reads:
"Returns X% of your maximum mana if the target is killed by you while you drain its soul. In addition, your Affliction spells generate Y% less threat."

The question (stemming from a report) is should imp. drain soul's mana return proc when:
a) A party member scores the kill
b) Your pet scores the kill

a) seems unlikely given the tooltip (although you never know with wow tooltips), b) seems more probable, however.

Should bounding box scale with enrage spells?

Should bounding box of Units scale with Enrage spells (that change your model scale)? For example, the Hulking Helboar in Hellfire Peninsula.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but the easiest way to test this is to see if the distance the mob follows you at changes when he grows bigger. Or if he will just start being partially inside of your model.

Slice and Dice: "A more powerful spell is already active"

Report: "Slice and Dice: if the duration of current slice and dice is a 5 CP, and you use a 1 CP one, it won't overwrite the current one but it will use the Combo Point. It should say 'A More Powerful spell is already active'.

Question: The above report is indeed how buffs normally behave when attempting to overwrite a less effective one. However, slice and dice works quite differently from normal buffs, so we'd prefer to find some evidence that this is true. A video, screenshot or textual source would serve as evidence.

EDIT: Reading my post again my explanation is rather poor. What it boils down to is: what happens if the SnD you're about to apply would have a lower duration than your current one? Will it eat up the combo points, but not update your buff? Or will it deny you casting the spell at all (with the above mentioned error)?

Vanndar/Drek'thar tower marshal/warmaster buffs

Report: "Vanndar dont have the Towers buffs on him. Even tho the towers arent destroyed yet."

Note: Nim and I seem to recall this not being a thing from the start, and was trying to find out when it was added or if we're misremembering.

Old Hillsbrad Foothills: shapeshift + human form

Report: "At Old Hillsbrad heroic after shapeshifting i didn't get turn into a human anymore."

Note: Someone (can't remember who) told me this was how it worked. Personally I have no memory of it, and it'd be nice to have some evidence of it.

Combat log "formatting"

Combat logging of events is not always blizzlike.

This needs more research, namely:

  1. Errors in the combat log need to be identified.
  2. Proper workings for said error need to be researched.

If you know of any error, and how it should work, please respond to this issue.

SnD & LoS

Should Slice and Dice require LoS to the target?

WF totem + Paladin Seal of Command

Hello, there is problem with WF totem, which is not adding another melee hit to Seal of Command when it procs. WF attack just give +1hit to your basic Auto attack(White hit), but if the WF and SoC proc is at the same time, the WF must give +1hit to the Seal of Command too, example: 1AA, 1SoC melee hit + WF = 2AA, 2SoC melee hit. So there is ingame screenshot how it works on CC test http://postimg.org/image/mbk4n2r75/ and there is screenshot how it must work: http://postimg.org/image/k1scjkgrn/ and some video from TBC arena tournament or next-gen wow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4O7cDzr8YxA .... thx for reading the report :)

Charging player-to-player proximity

When charging a player that stands still (note: not moving is important here) you get really close to him. This is because the bounding box of players are really small. Is this wrong?

Deadly Throw, pvp gloves silence

Quite some time ago we got a report that the silence on rogue's pvp gloves when using deadly throw should happen instantly (when cast), not when the spell reaches its target. The evidence was sufficient for us and we implemented it that way.

This test the opposite was reported, that this shouldn't be the case. The below is proof linked by Whatsthis against the instant silence:

Warlock "Health Funnel"

A warlock can die from the spell Health Funnel, but after that he can move and resurrect immediately where he is, and without any durability loss. Is that normal ?

Mind Control Threat

So, turns out we missed an issue that needs research. Namely mind control in conjunction with threat. The points needing to be determined are:

  1. Does the mob's threat table reset when he is mind controlled?
  2. How much threat does the priest generate on the mob he mind controls? (*)

(*) In regards to question 2 we have found various sources speaking about it, but nothing conclusive. The various interesting topics we found are as listed:

Comment in Omen:
-- Mind Control
--605, 10911, 10912,
-- No known testing is done to conclude Mind Control threat values
-- Closest is http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t23307-priest_mind_control_threat_testing/ (**)
-- which is highly inconclusive. Wowwiki says "To this date it is not clear
-- precisely how much threat Mind Control causes, but it is very substantial"
-- MC threat is not a flat 5500 threat as Satrina's guide says.
Two posts discussing it:
http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-guides/93187-priest-mind-control-guide.html
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1869409941#6
Some people even claim the threat is infinite, and not even taunt can bring it back to the tank (sounds very unlikely):
