faceshield.nu's Issues

Models are a bit big for small print beds

The total length of the handle is 184.08mm for NA and 180.6mm for EU versions.
Prusa Mini has 180x180mm bed.
A reduce of arms length by 5mm will make it printable as is.

99% for EU and 97% for NA fits fine, but I'm not sure about the quality of connection with the sheet for scaled models.

greater distance to the forehead

I got the feedback that a bigger distance between the shield and the forehead of about 4cm would be better for the wearing comfort.

Stackable version for single extruders?

Can you make a stacked version (like the makerbot dual-extruder) but for single extruders? With minimal supports between that can be snapped/cut apart? I'm providing units for a local hospital, but am only working with single-extruder units.

I would be happy to do this myself, if you'll provide an editable file type, preferably fusion360's . f3d

Thank you.

Chamfer the top edge PLEASE!

By putting a chamfer the top edge of the model, it will come out much better and be easier to print. less touch-up work after the print, nobody likes a sharp edged part. And a Step file would be nice!

Thank you.

Step files

Could you kindly provide step files to make modifications

Europe 888: 1mm front is actually 0.5mm

As far as I can tell, the front thickness of Europe 888 (Europe 888/3D Printing Files (STL)/Thicker brow/Visor_frame_EUROPE_80mm_4hole_v2-1mm_front.stl) is actually 0.5mm.
Would it be possible to fix it?

Changelog for expediting NIH updates, NA version

Please forgive me if I'm just overlooking something but I'm unable to locate a changelog or extrapolate changes for the model below from the git commit history.

Visor_Frame_NORTH_AMERICA_letter_6-hole_v5.stl

You may or may not be aware that your v3 model has undergone review and recommended when fabricated as instructed by the NIH which is a very important feature of your (and others) model to Medical Institutions in the US.

https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-013306

While seemingly simple if a changelog can be included, at least for this model, members of the community can better alert NIH of updates and get them approved faster. Currently users visiting the NIH website seem to be downloading an old (NIH approved) version however on the other hand some users are seeking this out due to its standing with NIH and obtaining it from either github or YouImagine and are obtaining a version technically not approved, v5.

I understand the differences may be marginal and the request nuanced however I think this very simple solution will have a very critical benefit.

Laser file for top cover?

Is there a laser cut file for the top cover? If not I can make it myself but looking at the guide, it shows a series of cuts but doesn't show the length of those cuts.

Wrong spacing for North America

I find that the holes don't line up well for the North American 6-hole version. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the pegs are spaced 110mm apart when they should be 108mm.

If I manually punch them with 110mm spacing, it fits onto the band much more nicely, but that's much more time-consuming than using a standard 3-hole punch with the half-inch spacer.

Transparent plastic sheet detach

Hi,

I printed the Visor_frame_EUROPE_80mm_4hole_v1.stl file and the holes are well aligned.
But the transparent sheet is too loose and easily get off the structure.
Here is a video to illustrate it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHXnbsCBFrk

I'm thinking about printing it to 101% or more to make it more rigid.
Or maybe a ring to lock the sheet

Do you have any idea ?

Version Marks

The versions should have simple marks to identify the version.

1 inch spacer

I have a pack of report cover sheet material that's a bit over 11 inches. If you make the spacer 1" (25.4mm) long you don't need to turn the sheet over, just punch with and without the spacer in place. It will work with any size sheet as long as it's long enough to contain the holes. That should make it more flexible. If you only resize the one dimension the spacer will work either way.

DXF and PDF templates for ISO838 V4 are WRONG!

Hi guys,
in the europe iso838 file release the templates in PDF and DXF have a wrong distance between center holes.
Seems like they were never updated when the switch from v2 to v3 was made!
The distance between the center holes, as reported in #4 (comment), should be ~68mm

Top shield - gaps

I got feedback from one of the hospitals that I'm working with that they would like to eliminate the gap/hole between the mask edge and the face.

I made a variation that looks like this:
https://imgur.com/PjLiYEI

Note a 1/2mm gap to allow the arm to continue to flex.
https://imgur.com/jJZd2q8

For hospitals that aren't using the top-shield, it provides some additional shielding from the downward spray. Happy to provide the reference designs if needed.

Pegs too big for hole punch

First off, thank you for making these! On the North American version the pegs are larger (elliptical instead of circular). I'm having to double punch the same hole twice to make it fit which is making some of the shields fall off the visor. Why was this done differently and can we get a North American version with round pegs like the other versions please? I need to print hundreds of these and it's going to screw things up if I have to double punch all the holes.
