Unable to compile example code, missing gfal2.pc and gfal_transfer.pc files

What is the status of GoLang binding? Does this repo provides up to date code to work with gfal in Go?

I tried to compile provided in README example but it gives me the following.

Package gfal2 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gfal2.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gfal2' found
Package gfal_transfer was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gfal_transfer.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gfal_transfer' found

Can you provide up to date instructions what is required to make a build?
