This is the CLI tool to train on certifications.

How it looks?

Installation and update

Using Composer

$ composer create-project certificationy/certificationy-cli
$ php certificationy.php

With Docker and Docker compose

Install the project prerequisites

The project has prerequisites:

• Docker (1.12+)
• Docker-composer (1.10+)
• GNU make

To install Docker, refer to the official documentation for your operating system: https://docs.docker.com/install/.

Once Docker installed, to check its smooth running, run docker -v, you should get something like suit:

$ docker -v
Docker version 1.12.4, build 1564f02

You must use the minimum version 1.12 of Docker.

To install the docker-composer, please also refer to the official documentation: https://docs.docker.com/compose/install/.

Once docker-composes installed (install it globally to be able and access from anywhere), to check its proper functioning, run docker-compose -v, you should get something like suit:

$ docker-compose -v
Docker-composer version 1.10.0, build 4bd6f1a

You must use the docker-compose version 1.10 minimum.

A makefile allows you to manipulate the container simply and easily. You have to be able to run make -v, which you are ready to choose:

$ make -v

Note: If you are using Windows, we strongly recommend that you use the Linux console included in Windows 10 (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install-win10) or to use an emulator for Command to be able to use make which will greatly facilitate the work.

Using the Container

You should then be able to run make which will show you using the Makefile:

$ make
start:           Start the project
bash:            Go to the bash container of the application
stop:            Stop docker containers

Start the application with make start:

$make start
docker-compose build
Building app
Step 1/19 : FROM php:7.1-fpm-alpine
7.1-fpm-alpine: Pulling from library/php
... # pulling image

docker-compose up -d

Once the procedure is complete you can already use the bash of the container.

Run Certificationy CLI;

$ php certificationy.php

To exit bash docker

$ exit 

Stop the application with make stop:

$ make stop 
docker-compose kill
Killing certificationycli_app_1 ... done

Runing it through docker composer

Start the container

Start it in daemon mode.

docker compose up -d

Run certificationy

Execute this instruction or whatever certificationy you want.

docker exec -it certificationy-cli_app_1 /bin/bash -c "php certificationy.php start --training"

Stop the container

docker compose down

More run options

Select the number of questions

$ php certificationy.php start --number=10

The default value is 20.

List categories

$ php certificationy.php start --list [-l]

Will list all the categories available.

Only questions from certain categories

$ php certificationy.php start "Automated tests" "Bundles"

Will only get the questions from the categories "Automated tests" and "Bundles".

Use the category list from List categories.

Hide the information that questions are/aren't multiple choice

$ php certificationy.php start --hide-multiple-choice

As default, the information will be displayed.

Training mode: the solution is displayed after each question

$ php certificationy.php start --training

Set custom configuration file

$ bin/certificationy start --config=../config.yml

Will set custom config file.

And all combined

$ php certificationy.php start --number=5 --hide-multiple-choice "Automated tests" "Bundles"

• 5 questions
• We will hide the information that questions are/aren't multiple choice
• Only get questions from category "Automated tests" and "Bundles"

Note: if you pass --list [-l] then you will ONLY get the category list, regarding your other settings.

certificationy-cli's Issues

Wrong answer value from choice list

When answering a question, some times the app takes the wrong answer value from a given list.

Example:
When answer N° 2 is submitted, the app takes anwser N° 0 .

Update to certificationy 2?

It's time to think about certificationy cli v2 :)

I found that two path is hardcoded in config.yml.
Is there any way to add my own categories with own q/a?

"s\b" disappeared in console output

Question #8 [PHP] If function foo() is defined in the namespace myapp\utils\bar and your code is in namespace myapp, what is the correct way to import the bar namespace so you can use the foo() function?

build is actualy broken on hhvm

I have no clue how we can fix this as hhvm don't totaly support PHP api 💃

Package hirak/prestissimo at version ^0.3 has a PHP requirement incompatible with your PHP version, PHP extensions and Composer version

After clone the repo and execute

docker compose up

I get the error:

Spliting the composer instructions and comment prestissimo, It works well

certificationy not registering my answers

When I answer a question, the answer is not registered (blank).
Output:
Your answer: (blank)

So when I'm finished, all the answers are wrong (even though I gave a few correct answers).

Anyone know how I can fix this problem ?

phar file is missing "vendor" folder.

It seems that the phar file is not a complete package and is missing all the 3rd party dependencies (vendor folder).

StartCommand : Failed to open stream: No such file or directory

I solved the issue by using this path function in StartCommand.php :

      return file_exists($config) ? $config : $defaultConfig;
}

and modified start command beginning :

}

The problem is that the code doesn't test if the file exists and it's not sure that the string file path is not empty.

Sorry for not making a PR for that, I don't really have much time to and hope you'll excuse me.
If this is not a so blocking issue, I will be able to do one mid-week in answer to this issue.

Remove or document hidden ``training`` option

Did you know that? there is an training option to launch only 1 question and get immediate result :)

ANSI coloring is broken after first answer

I'm using windows, powershell, php 7.2, latest master of this repo

First question is displayed with proper colored text, but after first letter shell codes are shown instead of coloring

option show-multiple-choice wrong interpreted

It looks like the option --show-multiple-choice is wrongly used.
2 things :

1. The default value is true, so this option is not useful, maybe it should be replaced by --hide-multiple-choice and just detect if the option has been set without looking for its value.
2. No matter the value you set to this option, it will do the opposite of what is intended. Because the value is passed as a string, the test $showMultipleChoice === true ? is always wrong cause of the type. So if i try to write --show-multiple-choice=true (or any other value btw), i won't have the multiple choice precision.

2 ideas to resolve this :

1. Set default value at false, and just detect if the option is passed, not his value.
2. Correct the test by removing the type test (== true instead of === true).
3. Replace this option by --hide-multiple-choice and just detect if the option is passed too.

I personnally think the idea n°3 is the best, because this option will be useful only for people who needs to add some difficulty in their practice. Most of the people wants to have this precision, and requiring this option is annoying.

Hello, thanks for your app. I prepare PR that provide self-update packet. Read more about publish .phar here manifest-publisher. If you accept this PR, you should build .phar and attach file for each release, and change manifest link in file config.yml

Box Project domain is expired

The domain of the box project expired and someone grabbed it.

The current recommended way to install cerficationy still uses the domain. This can lead to potential malicious code being downloaded and executed.

Recommended fix: use composer to install

Wrong question count

Start command gives question count more than actual questions exist.

$ php certificationy.php start --number 1000
Starting a new set of 252 questions (available questions: 425)
$ grep "\-$" vendor/certificationy/*/data/* | wc -l
252

Attach the phar file to the release.

As a final user I just want to use the application, not compile to use it. Just attach .phar at the release tag on github can be usefull for these users.

Class not found

Hi, just starting using this tools for testing my skills and found a bug after the installation (correctly installed, just for precision) :

[Symfony\Component\Debug\Exception\FatalThrowableError]  
  Class 'Certificationy\Certification\Loader' not found  

The composer install was good, I've PHP on 7.1 version and I'm launching the tools on Mac.

Any idea of the reason why this bug ?

Upload new screenshot of cli application

"None of the above" answer misplaced

In many questions, the answers "All of the above" and "None of the above" are misplaces. Sometimes above the other questions, sometimes below. They should always be the last ones.

No questions are selected

Here is what I do:

Cli tool is now broken

I'm getting an error when running php certificationy.php
"Class 'Certificationy\Certification\Loader' not found"

Reason: class was removed in the following commit
certificationy/certificationy@d6edea3

Possible fix: replace "dev-master" by release version number in composer.json
Something like this: "certificationy/certificationy": "~1.4"

I just try you'r awesome tool with simple make start. Unfortunately, run the certification tool fail :

Due to this file : vendor/certificationy/php-pack/data/strings-patterns.yml

I see this in composer.json : certificationy/php-pack": "^1.4", and it's true, the file is fucked => https://github.com/certificationy/php-pack/blob/v1.4/data/strings-patterns.yml#L117

So, this need an update (new php-pack release), and a composer update.

Values ignored

Not sure if the bug is reproducable, however I am always getting null as an answer. While debugging I came to ChoiceQuestion Class from the Console Component. There in line 165

$multiselectChoices[] = $choices[(string) $result];

Always returns null. Can anyone confirm this issue?
I used a fresh clone from master and its dependencies from composer.json
