This is the source for principlesofchaos.org.

It's a static site, generated with hugo.

Theme used: DenisBalan/hugo-theme-pixyll (a slightly modified version of hugo-theme-pixyll)

Prereqs

• Install hugo so you can generate the html
• Check out the submodule that contains the Hugo theme:

git submodule init
git submodule update

Add a translation in a new language

1. Identify the ISO 639-1 two-letter code for your language (e.g., pl for Polish).
2. Create a content/_index.xx.md file (where xx is the two-letter country code), and populate it with the text. See the content directory for examples of the format.
3. Edit the config.toml file and add a [Languages.xx] line under the [Languages] section, in alphabetical order.
4. (Optional): Test locally: hugo server -D and point your browser at the local server
5. Commit all of the edited files: git add config.toml && git add content/_index.xx.md

The Site is Down

Pardon, but I do believe that a health check might need to be setup with pingdom or the like because principlesofchaos.org is officially down.

Website is unavailable (404)

The http://principlesofchaos.org/ URL specified in the readme and at some other places now leads to a 404 Github page.

What is a good way to discuss and submit corrections to a translation?

• In Russian I think "в стадии эксплуатации" is close to original "in production", than "в эксплуатационной среде".
• why "вопрос ребром" - there is no duality in original text, "on the heels" - it means quick succession, immediate follow-up
• several punctuation mistakes, and so forth

Should I make a PR or try find who made the original translation?

German version

I miss a German version. Are you interesterd to get one? Or is somebody working on it?

Using Markdown and Static Site Generators

I believe maintaining an HTML document is hard, and I want to help you to use markdown files. Do you consider that?

Should **Last Update** date be updated?

Content says Last Update: 2018 May

I noted that "distributed system" was simplified to just "system" in the definition. I investigated to see when/why this was done and found PR #23 which is from Mar 2019.

Is this too minor a change to require an update to the Last Update date, or should Last Update be updated?
(That last sentence sounds like a tongue-twister... :-) )

Consider removing "distributed" from the intro definition?

Although many systems are distributed, I've found many that wouldn't typically be labelled as such and so I'd like to propose removing that from the short introduction definition to the principles.
