I wonder if there's a way to force static compilation of these tools.

@swails : Any idea of the ambermini tools can be statically compiled? Is there a flag for that?

This looks like a problem on a Mac. You can add the -static flag to the linker commands (assuming there is a static lib for all of the needed libraries). I don't know about using static libs on Macs. I've read that it's generally discouraged.

The solution for @ChayaSt is to use MacPorts to install gcc (@jchodera -- what version did you use?)

I can try getting it to work with clang tomorrow, but I don't hold out much hope for that.

Nevermind on the clang integration. We need to build Fortran codes which requires gcc.

We can definitely install gcc on chaya's machine, but the hope is to avoid
requiring users to install other dependencies. I wonder if there is a
conda prerequisite we can specify if static linking doesn't work out.
