It will be nice if the windows icon could be dragged around.
Here is the thing: The taskbar when with TaskbarXI is a little buggy (that's what I was gonna report but there is already a report on that) especially when no window is full screen. Out of curiosity, I just restarted explorer.exe to see if it would make thing any better. Then explorer crashed and after that my whole computer crashed and rebooted into safe mode. :(
I have my taskbar at the top but on Windows 11 they're getting rid of the ability to move it. I'd be eternally grateful if you could fix what Microsoft broke πππ
@ChrisAnd1998 Hey great work making taskbarXI. Looking forward to feature where even start icon is removed from taskbar.
Also to make start window full screen or something better maybe blur the background when it opens. also Action centre and or notification panel is gone seems little incomplete without it
I think it would be a very cool addition if we had the ability to hide the start button, or center it between the pinned icons.
Maybe it would look cooler if we can manage the icon size in the taskbar.
Also, for the background square that shows that an app is open, would be great if we can remove it, and only show the opened apps with the default lines. (picture) (for those who want it to look more like macOS)
One more thing : I never used macOS so i don't know how the taskbar behaves when a window is in fullscreen, but here, when it's the case, the taskbar goes back to the default long one... or maybe its just because it's not finished yet.
It would be helpful to add an -h or --help flag just in case a user wants to know about all the features the app offers.
I like that the taskbar goes back to the full length when you open a window (i think showing the desktop when a window is maximized would look pretty weird) but I suggest adding a smoother animation when the taskbar goes back to normal. It is a bit janky rn with the taskbar kind of snapping back to normal. Otherwise this is a fantastic little tool and I defiantly prefer this over the normal taskbar. Keep it up! π
Only getting the wrapper on one of my 3 screens and its kinds blinking and the clock is missing on that one. it may be cuz i'm running Insider preview: version 22523.1000 rs_prerelease
But the ide is great, thanks for the work!!
Please make TaskbarXI in C# instead of VB.NET. It would be more practical to use and would encourage more contributions (Microsoft doesn't plan to develop VB.NET further and recommends to move as well).
It would be great to keep the apps centered while having the start menu on the left.
Application is not able to do anything for me due to taskbar_List first indes overwrite. I've attempted to create a pull request with a fix but failed due to luck of permissions.
Separating Taskbar into (3) groups which can be placed on individual monitors
Example configuration: 1 goes on monitor first display, 2 goes on every display or just the second and 3 goes on the third display
This would be very nice when using full screen apps like games (right now you cannot really look at the clock because it is locked on the primary monitor and the game is there too)
Alternatively, if this is not possible: maybe enable the feature again that you can switch taskbars of primary and secondary monitor so you get the clock and notifications on the secondary monitor instead of the primary (this was possible in win 10)
What changes do I need to make in the source code files to stop the taskbar from reverting to full size when a window is maximized?
i just downloaded taskbarXI and when i try to open it. literally nothing happens. but in the background it says the app is running and when i click it it just says "do you want to exit taskbarXI" and nothing else
Im using windows 11 for this. pls help ;-;
And i cant seem to find the zip file for taskbarXI
I have 2 monitors and I want the taskbar to show on second monitor only, the only way to achieve this is by making my second monitor the main display which is not convenient (eg: gaming)
And so that the taskbar returns to its original state when the window is maximized.
Like it was done in the previous ( .Net ) version:
PS > (gps TaskbarXI).CommandLine
"C:\Users\user\bin\tbxi\TaskbarXI.exe" -tbs=1 -color=0;0;0;50 -dtbsowm=1
How do you remove it idk how please help
Please give info about TaskbarXI @ChrisAnd1998
Hello,
I came across your Github project and I'm excited to use it. However, when I download the zip file I can't seem to find the .exe file in the extracted folder. I see two separate downloads, one for the zip and one for the .exe. However, when I download the .exe file, I get an error message.
Could you please help me figure this out so I can try the software? I will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Benny
What is the correct syntax in order to apply the features?
And where to use them
I know this is some lowkey stuff, but i cannot figure it out due to my lack of cmd syntax knowledge, so i thought i might ask
I don't even know if that's possible, but it would be great to keep the taskbar more balanced. I like the centered start button a lot, but the left side becomes a wasted space.
I saw an app on the Microsoft Store Called Rounded TB basically is rounds the corners of the Taskbar so why you don't implement that feature in Taskbar XI?
For example, light theme with darker wallpaper you see rounded corner unpolished. The corners have to been smoothed for better look.
When I restart windows explorer from the task manager taskbarxi stops working. The process still runs on the task manager but the transparency effect is gone. Then I have to go back to the configurator and click apply again.
Would be good to have the option to enable small vertical dividers between the group of core buttons (Start, search, task view, widgets, Teams chat), pinned apps and unpinned open apps, similar to the dock in macOS.
The registry hack people used to use to get a small taskbar has been broken for a little while and it doesn't seem like microsoft has any plans to add an official option, so it would be great to be able to make it smaller like we could on windows 10.
Add compatibility for Windows 10
Since MS has removed this feature from the upcoming windows 11, this would be a great thing to add, replicating the taskbarglomming level 2 functionality.
When I open an application that is not pinned the animation looks phenomenal. However when i close that application the animation is exactly the same but reversed. the problem with this is hard to explain with words but basically the taskbar is shrinking before the app can close and the other pinned apps slide in. when opening an unpinned app it looks great because the taskbar scales up first but when it closes the taskbar should scale down after. I didn't look at your code and I don't even know any C++ so idk how hard this will be to accomplish.
There is two issues with the help option. First the help option runs the app also. Ideally help option should list out the options and not run the app itself. Second problem, which is somewhat subjective, is that the help option doesn't show itself in the same window as the app run in and instead open a new console window. Probably this happens only with external terminal emulator(I am using windows terminal). Help option though look cool should not be also that much visually overwhelming and should not override the user's terminal color choice.
What's gonna be new to our Taskbar with TaskbarXI? Will we be able to change the home button? Can we change the height to the taskbar (I think its kinda tall tbh). Or will it come with the same things TaskbarX has?
The UI for TaskbarXI won't show up. It starts when the computer is turned on, but there's no way to uninstall it.
If I remember correctly doesn't Win 11s taskbar center the icons already? therefore taskbarXI would just add transparency, blur, etc? right?
Hi, please make the MSIX package and upload it to Microsoft Store.
Thanks.
This will probably result in better experience where a user will not have to take their cursor all the way to the right for icons. Reference image.
