Based upon above mentioned proposal, we could - in a second step - extend the regex syntax (re-use & expand the regex of seriesMap - and usable also there) within the renameMap section:

• introduce a "split" syntax ("flexible change & adjustment" is inherent within regex expressions)
• could be used to split a combined series/episode title like "Tatort: Blah-blah-episode-title" into: series title: "Tatort" and Episode title "Blah-blah-episode-title"
• only AFTER this series / episode name update (as discribed above) the actual TheTVDB-search would be performed
• please map this example to series like "Lewis", "Nora Roberts", and (really) many more
• Example, using syntax from WegGrab+Plus:
  (renameSeries schedulesDirectName="regex=Tatort |. ," seriesName="Tatort" /) (exclude "any char" (can be ":" or "-" or " " or.. after "Tatort " (WITH space)) and empty char after the name and take the rest)

THIS second step would use the added renaming functionality out of step 1 (which is rather a new functionality from the point of users' view) to extend the CORE functionality of GE, making it appearing much more "intelligent"
