What is it?

As the name implies, CK2+ exists to give you more—more content, more choices, more fun. The goal is to offer a deeper and more challenging CK2 experience without straying too far from the original game mechanics or adding overly deterministic events. The purpose of this mod is not historical accuracy (although we try to preserve it whenever it’s not detrimental to gameplay), but rather to enrich the medieval sandbox that CK2 offers.

Manual Installation Instructions:

  1. First find your installation directory. This will depend on your OS, and may not be (especially in the case of Windows) the directory where you actually installed CK2 itself:
    Windows: ~\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\
    Linux: ~/.paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings II/mod/
    Mac: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/mod/

  2. If the "mod" subdirectory doesn't exist in the above location, create it.

  3. If you already have a "mod" sub-directory there, excellent. Make sure you delete anything related to CK2Plus prior to the manual installation -- this includes any old versions of the mod, anything that was installed by Steam Workshop (which we no longer use), etc. You want a clean slate when installing, even if you're just updating to a new mod version.

  4. Make sure you've downloaded the .zip file from the link at the top of this page.

  5. To extract the files from within, you'll first need a program like WinRar or 7-Zip. Once you have that, you should be able to just click to open the .zip file and you can move the files over to the "mod" sub-directory. Alternatively, you can use the extractor program to select the .zip file and select where you want the files extracted (the installation directory in #1).

  6. Start the CK2 launcher. Check the "CK2Plus" box in the list of mods. When the title screen comes up make sure the checksum (the four-letter code to the left of the title screen buttons) matches the one listed for that CK2Plus version. If so, you're good to go. If not, you've either made some other alterations, installed some other mods, or made a mistake.

Religious Sanity Check

Make sure the tenets, virtues, sins, etc of each in-game religion match their real-world beliefs.

More strict requirements for changing/converting religion

Just a piety cost should not be enough to decide you want to change your faith, even within the same religious family.

  • Requirements for converting inside of the same religious family

  • Additional requirements for converting to a completely foreign religion including having someone available to teach you their ways.

landed_titles organization/additions

  • Divide landed_titles by logical lines. E.G. Religion Heads/Mercenaries/Holy Orders/Empires

  • Add additional requirements to the creation of titles, preferably via scripted_triggers

  • Add startup event to remove de jure status for empires (and possibly kingdoms) that have either never existed or do not have any living claimants or a holder.

Yezidism

Paradox created a Yezidi religion, but did not make any Yezidi characters. There are still people practicing this religion today (more even than Zoroastrianism).

There is not a ton of good information on the religion, since there are no authentic holy texts (it's an orally transmitted religion), but there is plenty enough information to make events, tenets, etc. for them. If you would like additional information I am happy to provide some sources.

Faction System

Melting Pots

  • Possibly a script to automate melting pot generation

  • Galwegian/Gallovidian

  • Low Prussian (Teutonic)

  • Siculo-Arabic (>Maltese)

  • Siculo-Greek (Don't call it Griko, that's an endonym)

  • Siculo-Norman

  • Transsylvanian-Saxon

Alliance Optimization

  • If possible, invalidate alliances with your own vassals to avoid miscalculations of troop counts since they can not contribute independently to the war effort.

War Optimization

Changes to the game related to War:

  • Make the AI less likely to press a claim on someone the current liege granted the title to.

  • Either increase the requirements needed to declare a Crusade or introduce a timer

Re-organize religious groups

Religion "families" should be more specific than "Eastern" and "Pagan" ("Abrahamic" still up for debate)

  • Split Paganism based on other factors (possibly geographic or cultural?)

  • Split Eastern based on origin or other factors

Romanian principalities

  • Change k_dacia (Wallachia) and k_moldavia 's title to 'Principality of', 'Voivode', 'Voivode'
  • Add k_romania (Kingdom)
  • Add a titular kingdom-tier Transsylvanian voivodeship
  • Add Major Decision "Unite the Romanian principalities":
    Requires being owning both k_dacia and k_moldavia and all* de jure lands.
    Titles k_dacia and k_moldavia can be (re)created not by the holder of k_romania, only as a titular title by others. (In case of foreign conquest, pretenders, the the Romanian state is destroyed, etc)
    -- All de jure land of Moldavia and Wallachia become de jure land of k_romania
    -- Decision taker forms k_romania as primary title
    -- Destroy titles k_dacia and k_moldavia
    -- Get claims on Transsylvania
    -- ++ Dynasty renown

New Pagan Religions

  • Arab Pagan

  • Armenian Pagan

  • Canaanite Pagan

  • Celtic Pagan (Potentially with Gaelic/Welsh/Iberian variants)

  • Egyptian Pagan (including Atenism and the Cult of Serapis)

Revise Benelux culture history

Current cultural history isn't completely accurate.

  • Revise the Netherlands' cultural history (Frisian, Dutch, Saxon)

  • Consider Flemish and Walloon

Rename religious endonyms to proper English names

  • Rename pagan faiths or religions with an endonym or modern reconstructionists' name to a proper English name
  • Make sure the religion or faith's attribute still makes sense (for example, no Norse terms for the entire Germanic group)

Revise Italian History

Use CK2+'s Italian overhaul for 'inspiration'
